Katya Jones supported by friends as she shares 'heartbreak' after Strictly exit
Katya Jones has spoken of her 'heartbreak' after Nigel Harman and her made an unexpected Strictly Come Dancing exit.
The former EastEnders star was forced to pull out of the BBC show at the quarter final stage on Saturday – just hours before filming commenced after hurting his ribs in rehearsals. The 50-year-old later told stunned viewers during the broadcast as he revealed a mishap occurred as he leapt from a rostrum, resulting in a trip to A&E.
Nigel and Katya had no choice but to withdraw from the series, leaving fans stunned by the bombshell news. There was no public vote and instead, their scores from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabue, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke will be added to those from next week's semi final.
The pro dancer has now spoken about her devastation and had a message for the actor as she was supported by her friends and followers. She posted a lengthy run down on Instagram and says she was so grateful for the months they had before their exit on Saturday.
"And here we are," she wrote with a heart emoji. What an abrupt ending. But when the dust has settled , I know only beautiful memories will remain in my heart. When we turned up every day and had our coffees, when we would have discussions about the story of our dance and our characters, every time you made me laugh, every time you gave me a reassuring hug.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tour"When I would get excited about your toilet breaks because you always belted out some amazing tunes whilst doing your business! Giving the first pre-view of our dances to your family, and see their faces light up. The support of your friends and countless messages of love and encouragement that we received.
"The list can go on. And then the excitement of doing the dance on set and see it come alive on Fridays. Eventually walking out on to the dance floor together every Saturday, holding hands, feeling the magic in the air I am so grateful this partnership happened. So proud of you and privileged to spend time with such an enormously talented human."
Fans rushed to say she will be missed and one wrote: "In all my years of watching Strictly, seldom have I come across such a beautiful partnership." A second said: "Strictly just isn't the same without you two! So upset for you . Your charleston looked fantastic in the clips we saw and wish we could see the whole dance."
Speaking about his shock departure, Nigel explained how he felt after having to quit the show: "It was very strange waking up this morning and not dancing with you. I didn't know what to do. I'm still in pain and I've been moping around the house. Three days ago we were about to dance we knew was going to be great. I don't feel like I've left yet, but I'm missing people. It feels strange."
Nigel had been accused of being a "bear with a sore head" backstage. However, one Strictly insider told The Mirror: "It is always sad when a contestant leaves the show, particularly when an injury is sustained. Nigel will be well missed by those who have worked alongside him on the show and everyone wishes him the very best and looks forward to seeing him at the final."
