The father of a man who was missing for a decade has spoken of how reports of a 'woman's screams' might hold the answer to his son's death.

Allan Bryant, 23, disappeared with no trace after leaving Styx nightclub closeby to his home in Glenrothes at 2am on November 3, 2013. However, despite searching extensively, he has not been spotted since, reports The Daily Record.

His family worked with police this year and on November 3 they put out a poignant plea for information, as part of a press conference, held on the tenth anniversary of his disappearance. And following the appeal, information has been unearthed which shines a light on new claims that a woman was heard screaming hysterically between 3am and 8am on the night of Allan's disappearance.

His father Allan Bryant Snr, who says he now accepts his son is dead, now thinks witnesses who heard the screams might be able to help his family find Allan's body. Speaking to The Daily Record, the 57-year-old said: "Someone came forward after the recent police appeal and told us about a woman screaming in the early hours between 3am to 8am."

Now Allan Snr is pleading for anyone else who might have heard the screams, which were said to have taken place nearby Barton Place, Muirfield Drive, Forres Drive and Elgin Drive in town, to speak up. He added: "I believe my son was killed in that area that morning. We hope someone will come forward with information to identify who the woman was and to help us find Allan.

"There were two house parties going on in that area, where a lot of youngsters ended up after a night out in the town. We just want closure now and to find out where Allan's body is and bring him home."

Detective Inspector Scott Roxburgh said: "Information received from the public has covered a wide range of scenarios, including that Allan has been harmed in some way. All information has been investigated thoroughly, recorded, assessed and actioned accordingly. Allan’s disappearance remains a missing person enquiry.

"We are determined to do everything we can to find out what happened to Allan after he left Styx." Allan Bryant Jr had walked with friends to an engagement party at Leslie Golf Club in Glenrothes from his home in Ednam Drive.

He departed at around midnight and visited the Styx nightclub, with CCTV capturing him leaving shortly after 2am. However, there has been no further sighting since.

In 2020, a police investigation was set up after human remains were identified at an industrial estate on Whitehill Road in Glenrothes, however they were not linked to Allan's disappearance. More than 900 statements had been made for the duration of the investigation, looking into Allan's disappearance.

1500 people had been spoken to and police officers spent thousands of hours working on the case. Anyone who thinks they may have information regarding what happened to Alan should call scotland>Police Scotland on 101 or email [email protected]
