A highly-anticipated drama is finally making its way to the small screen later this month. From Todd Haynes – director of historical drama Far from Heaven and Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There – comes May December, a brand-new romantic drama launching later this month.

The romantic drama has developed quite a lot of buzz since its premiere earlier this year and has become one of the season’s most hotly anticipated films. It stars Oscar winners Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore and follows married couple Gracie and Joe Atherton-Yoo (Moore and Charles Melton), whose scandalous 23-year age gap sparked a notorious tabloid romance that gripped the USA two decades ago.

Cut to modern day and their marriage comes under renewed strain when Hollywood actress Elizabeth Berry (Portman) comes to spend time with the family to better understand Gracie, who she will be playing in a film about the scandal. The film is loosely inspired by the real-life story of Mary Kay Letourneau, an American teacher who, at 34, began a relationship with a 12-year-old male student whom she later married after a seven-year prison sentence.

The film is driven by the performances of Moore and Portman, while Riverdale star Melton has also received acclaim for his portrayal of adult Joe. The trio stars alongside Piper Curda, Elizabeth Yu, Gabriel Chung, Cory Michael Smith, D.W Moffeet and Lawrence Arancio.
