Robbie Williams is set to headline BST Hyde Park next summer, it has been reported.

The star, who headlined in 2019 with hits from his two decades-long career as a solo artist, will return to London’s Hyde Park on Saturday July 6, 2024. He is due to join previously announced headliner Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, who will take to the stage on July 5.

Talking about landing the gig, Robbie said: "It’s an honour to be back here to headline BST Hyde Park. I can’t wait to see you all there!" Robbie's performance will come five years after he last headlined BST festival in 2019, joined onstage by his father and his former X Factor mentees and "new mates" the LMA choir after he become a co-owner.

The 49-year-old entertainer, known for songs that include Rock DJ and Angels, recently starred in a self-titled Netflix documentary which looks back at footage from his touring days with Take That and after he left the group. The documentary delves into the behind the scenes of becoming a pop star and the struggles he faced with his mental health and addiction.

Robbie left Take That in 1995 in the middle of their Nobody Else world tour. The group, which is now made up of members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, headlined BST festival in 2023 bringing on stage Eurovision winner Lulu Kennedy-Cairns and Britain’s Got Talent star Calum Scott.

The announcement comes after the former Take That star finished his most recent XXV tour dates in Australia and New Zealand, where he celebrated 25 years of hits on tour dates across the UK and Ireland in October. On the opening night of his Australia tour, a fan aged in her 70s died after she attempted to step over seating rows at the end of Williams’ concert, lost her footing and fell from the upper level of the stadium.

He went on to dedicate his song Angels to fan who died. A woman called Robyn Hall suffered head injuries on November 16 after she fell down six rows of seats after the singer's concert at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia. She then passed away on the following Tuesday.

The 49-year-old acknowledged the situation before he sang his song Angels in Melbourne in an emotional tribute. According to footage a fan posted on social media, he said: "I heard the news, the tragic news this week that a fan died in an accident after the show in Sydney and I feel that, after all the years, I am you and you are me and we are each other when we come together.

"So when something happens like this it breaks my heart. I've been thinking about it an awful lot, and I thought about it all the way through the show tonight. I just want to give a big shout-out and lots of love from me and my band to Robyn and Robyn's family."

Tickets go on sale for BST Hyde Park on Friday December 8 at 10am.
