There are fears Nella Rose could quit I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Our Of Here! even though the show is now in the final stretch of the 2023 season.

The current season of ITV’s long-running reality show has been a flop - with viewers boycotting the show over the casting of controversial politician Nigel Farage, and those that have tuned in have been left frustrated by the behaviour of 26-year-old YouTube star Nella. The stars of the show have now started getting voted off, and despite a vicious online petition to have Nella voted off first, she survived the first axing as professional jockey Frankie Dettori, 52, became the first celeb to be voted out of the jungle.

But being put in the bottom two alongside Frankie - and after enduring no less than eight brutal trials due to the public vote - Nella is showing signs she might follow through with her long-standing threat to quit the show. The YouTuber has struggled throughout the series, clashing with co-stars and being forced to face trial after trial. She had previously explained she wanted to walk, but didn’t want to be the first star to do so - and indeed food critic Grace Dent, 50, became the first to quit the show and was soon after followed by 32-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears.

Body language expert Judi James has predicted that Nella could now quit - even though the final is in sight. She told Paddy Power Games: “Nella has now been placed in a position that will test her traits of resilience and stoicism to the full. When Frankie was evicted from the jungle first, he at least got champagne, a hug from his partner and a luxury hotel room to cheer him up. But being placed in the bottom two with him and still having to suffer all the discomforts of jungle life left Nella to a much worse, more miserable fate.

“Nella’s body language response to hearing her name with ‘it might be You’ showed none of the usual ‘upbeat’ masking signals that celebs use when they find out they’re not popular with the public.

“Frankie’s played the reality game a lot longer than Nella and was ready with the usual, face-saving leap of pretend joy as though he’d just won the Gold Cup at Ascot rather than gained no votes from the viewers. But Nella’s facial expression signalled utter shock, followed by a desire to self-protect. Her mouth fell open and her eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

“These eye and mouth gestures are used to take in and process information that we weren’t expecting. But when that information is deemed threatening or dangerous to us the mouth closes as we hunker in, and Nella’s open mouth became clamped tight shut as she waited for the final decision. She sucked her lips in tight and placed her fingers on her face in another barrier ritual to keep herself safe.

“Poor Nella has been getting voted for all the trials and wondering why the viewers are voting for her to suffer. Contestants who get trial votes like this are either popular with the viewers, who want to see more of their entertaining antics, or unpopular and getting ‘punished’.

“Nella has looked deflated as the days have gone by, but she might have been using the ‘popular’ option to keep her going. Now she’s had a message from the viewers delivered that suggests the contrary she might feel she has to quit. If not, we could see her re-booting her ego by showing more of her rebellious side, which might see her take on Fred more openly. She’s still in with a good chance of winning, depending on how she plays the next few days, but does she realise that?”

Nella angered some viewers when she clashed with First Dates star Fred Sirieix when he innocently commented he was old enough to be her father. Nella inexplicably slammed Fred, 51, saying that he should have been more considerate because he knew her parents were both dead - and she refused to speak to him for days.

While the pair have long since made up, some vicious viewers have been orchestrating online petitions to force Nella to face the gruesome trials. But the spiteful backlash has led others to feel sorry for the YouTube star.

One fan on X/Twitter wrote: “Stop voting for Nella it's a waste of a vote she's only going to bottle it... make it make sense people... and then ya'll are saying how you can't stand her.” And another commented: “These grown a*s adults demonising Nella and nitpicking everything she’s done since one tiff that’s been smoothed out for over a week should really get their priorities, straight man, grow up and stop being a horrible human being.”
