I'm A Celeb's most stomach-churning trials and gory moment Dec threw up
The eating challenges on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here certainly make for entertaining viewing - after all, who doesn’t love seeing ex UKIP leader Nigel Farage squirm while chomping on pizza made of private parts?
And who could forget 2020, when hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were given a taste of their own medicine and took on their very own eating challenge? Here, The Mirror takes a look at some of the most stomach churning moments from the last 23 series of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.
I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here hosts Ant and Dec were finally given a taste of their own medicine in 2020 when they were forced to do a Bushtucker Trial and eat fish eyes, a pig's penis - washed down with an insect smoothie. The cockroach smoothie made Dec gag and even vomit some of his drink back into his glass.
It was definitely stomach-churning stuff, with one viewer tweeting: "That genuinely has to be one of the greatest moments of tv, watching Ant crunching through a fisheye and Dec vomit back into a glass. I never thought they’d ever do a trial let alone the eating one."
Katie Price and Kim Woodburn
Watching Katie Price and Kim Woodburn chomp their way through kangaroo anus and witchetty grubs for an eating challenge in the 2009 series was comedy gold. Former glamour model Katie said the fisheye was the worst part of the menu, describing it as like "calamari, with a raw egg popping in your mouth, tastes like blood and the smell of a fishery." The same year, chef Gino D'Acampo was served up his worst nightmare and was forced to eat fermented egg, a rhino beetle and a pile of beach worms.

Stomachs were churning when Joe Swash struggled to hold down a crocodile’s penis which left him gagging, dribbling and crying in the eight series. Meanwhile, Freddie Starr may have managed to complete all his courses without gagging in 2011, but che ouldn’t resist winding up fellow camper Mark Wright throughout the challenge. For their second course, the pair were given a dish of 'Buggle and Squeak' – a mixture of cockroaches, crickets and mealworms. Freddie Starr ate him under the table but then had to leave the jungle with suspected food poisoning.

Rebekah Vardy was served up lamb’s anus (ITV/REX/Shutterstock)Former Pussycat doll Ashley Roberts’ starter was camel penis but it was her main, 'Eye-ella' (paella with raw fish eyes), that had viewers reaching for the sick bucket because you could literally hear the eye pop as she crunched it. Made in Chelsea toff Georgia Toffolo and footballers wife Rebekah Vardy were served up lamb’s anus, mealworms and Critter en Croute. Worms are often on the menu, in season 15 socialite Lady C and actress Jorgie Porter were forced to eat worms which "Gives a whole new meaning to spaghetti, " according to Lady C.
When Ferne McCann was made to eat a gigantic spider in 2015 not only was it difficult to watch but it sparked 1,500 complaints. Meanwhile, Shane Richie and Jessica Plummer retched while they drank a series of disgusting smoothies made from blended chicken feet and vomit fruit.
But it's not just the eating challenges that are stomach churning, some of the other Bushtucker trials can be pretty rancid. In 2022, Giovanna Fletcher and Vernon Kay were made to handle disgusting liquids and fish guts in order to win stars for the camp. During Cart-Astrophy Giovanna had to throw handfuls of disgusting substances into a bucket that attached to Vernon's head. The star then had to collect the liquids and pour them into another container - and despite this on eight stars for camp with Giovanna going on to be crowned Queen of the Jungle.
