Arsenal will be brimming with confidence when they host Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners come into the game on the back of a 6-0 thrashing of Lens, which has sent them into the knockout stages of the Champions League. They are into the last-16 of the competition with a game to spare on their first appearance in seven years.

Mikel Arteta ’s side are also top of the Premier League table, a point ahead of defending champions Manchester City, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool last weekend. By contrast, Arsenal beat Brentford 1-0 courtesy of a late goal from Kai Havertz and have therefore enjoyed a perfect week.

With Man City, third-placed Liverpool and Aston Villa in fourth not playing until Sunday, the visit of Wolves to the Emirates Stadium gives Arsenal the opportunity to extend their lead at the top. Wolves are 12th in the Premier League following their contentious 3-2 defeat at Fulham on Monday night.

Despite the significance of the fixture, it will not be available to watch live for viewers in the UK, having not been chosen for broadcast by rights holders TNT Sports and Sky Sports.

Sky have picked Nottingham Forest ’s home game against Everton at 5.30pm on Saturday, while TNT will show Newcastle vs Manchester United at 8pm. On Sunday, Sky Sports will broadcast West Ham vs Crystal Palace at 2pm followed by Man City vs Spurs at 4.30pm.

TNT Sports, Sky Sports and Amazon Prime purchased packages from the Premier League and are limited to how many they can show. Currently, 200 of the 380 matches per season are shown live in the UK, with Sky showing 128, TNT 52 and Amazon 20. The number is set to increase to 270 per season when the broadcasters bid for five packages across a four-year period starting with the 2025/26 season.

Arsenal’s game with Wolves is one of the three Premier League matches on Saturday which will kick off at 3pm. There is a rule in place which means no football games can be broadcast live on UK television between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on a Saturday, in order to protect attendances lower down the leagues. It has been in place since 1987.

Arteta was delighted with his side’s performance against Lens, which saw goals from Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Jorginho. He said: “I didn't even dream like this! We had the chance to qualify today and be top of the group and I think we've done it in a really convincing way against a really good side.

“The team from the beginning showed a lot of aggression and determination to go for the game. Everything happened in the right way in the first 30 minutes. That was really helpful to win the game.”
