Abbey Clancy’s house was thrown into chaos by the cheeky Elf On The Shelf - who brought some festive charm to her family home.

The 37-year-old model is married to football star Peter Crouch, 42, and together they are proud parents to daughters Sophia, 11, and Liberty, seven, and sons Johnny, four, and Jack, three. With December officially beginning and the count down to Christmas under way, it seems some festive sprites have entered the Clancy-Crouch household.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Abbey shared footage of her kids in one of their bathrooms - with toilet tissue draped all over the room. And while the kids were in awe of the chaos, it seemed that cheeky festive elves were the source of the madness.

Uploading the footage to Stories, Abbey showed her children looking around the room in awe and amusement as various Elf On The Shelf helpers could be seen amid the scene. Gasping at the mess, Abbey could be heard saying: “What has happened? Oh my gosh!”

One of her children directed Abbey towards one of the Elf On The Shelf dolls, saying: “Look up there mum!” And suggesting it was the elves that had thrown the toilet tissue everywhere, Abbey laughed: “They’re so naughty.” While Pete also despaired at the madness, gasping: "What have they done?"

The Elf On The Shelf is a children’s novel written by American authors Carol V. Aebersold and Bell Chanda and first published in 2005. It tells a charming Christmas story and is told in rhyme and explores the origins of the belief that Santa knows if children are naughty or nice.

An army of cheeky elves, who work under the orders of the legendary Santa Claus, spy on children from the end of November all the way to Christmas Eve when they report back on the behaviours and actions of the children they’ve been spying on. The book has become almost as synonymous with Christmas as Santa himself and a dizzying array of Elf on the Shelf merchandise is available, linked to the original story.

Abbey and Peter host a podcast titled The Therapy Couch and have discussed the challenges they face raising their four children together. Abbey said during a recent episode: “My kids are so well behaved, but I think because we are so close with them, any form of discipline or rules, they just don’t take a blind bit of notice to me.”

Peter replied: “I think the way you do it could be better. If you constantly shout or tell them off, they are going to end up not listening.” But then Abbey asked: “You don’t hear, ‘Come on guys, let’s do your homework’.” Peter quipped: “never heard that”.

Abbey went on to admit that she doesn’t want to be a parent that nags their children, but suggested Peter is more relaxed when it comes to parenting than she is. She said: “It’s calmer, but it’s not helpful. I actually think because you were pushed so much as a child, you’ve completely gone the other way. You’re more relaxed.”
