Author Omid Scobie found himself at the centre of a royal storm this week with the release of his new offering, Endgame.

In the book, he alleged that there are two royal family members involved in the race row, but Mr Scobie did not name those in question. Then in a shock twist, a Dutch language version of the book dragged King Charles and Princess Kate into the row involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes' son, Archie, as it named them as those concerned.

Meghan first disussed the alleged "concerns and conversations" about "how brown" Archie would be during her bombshell sit-down with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, which drew millions of viewers across the world and sent the monarchy into a tailspin.

The Sussexes set in train a public debate about who in the Royal Family might harbour such racially charged views. In a multicultural modern Britain such allegations against the monarchy generated debate on a matter of such public importance with Omid Scobie's new book claiming to add to that public debate.

Scobie has long been labelled 'Meghan's pal' and 'mouthpiece' - something he strongly denies - but it turns out there is another household name that he has formed a a good working relationship over the years: Kim Kardashian.

In a podcast appearance to promote Endgame, Scobie explained exactly how he first forged relationships with A-list celebrities - including Kim Kardashian - now one of the most famous people in the world - who ended up being one of his sources.

Speaking to James O'Brien on the Full Disclosure podcast, the author explained why Kim was one of his preferred celebrities to work with during his tenure at Us Weekly, where he found himself moving up the professional ranks relatively fast.

When O'Brien asked the author how he started getting scoops, he said: "I like to cultivate a long-term friendship, or relationship I should say. For me I'm always thinking what story do I want in six months time, in twelve months time, how do I get there? So it lands you in positions where you end up that Kim Kardashian is your source and you're emailing her directly and she's helping out stories for US Weekly.

"In fact she was a great example of someone who really gets it, because she would send over an email and it would say 'Kim says' - which was her quote - 'a source says' underneath [...] I've always really admired anyone who gets the process because of course there are people who don't want to be written about."

Later in the episode he compared his dealings with Kensington Palace to being "just like Kim". Scobie claimed: "I remember those emails where there was an aide that would send us responses to all the questions and in red it was what you could use for sourced quotes and then in another colour it was just guidance."
