Strictly's Zara McDermott shares major health update after diagnosis
Zara McDermott says she is showing signs of developing osteoporosis with her boyfriend Sam Thompson on the other side of the world.
The Strictly Come Dancing star offered a health update in an Instagram Q&A and is making changes to her diet due to a recent discovery. Zara, who won't be heading to Australia to greet Sam with Pete Wicks already down under, has also been speaking about why she's staying home.
Zara often shares details about her life online with her followers and went into detail about her choice of hot drink after she was asked: “Your favourite coffee?” Fans got more than they were expecting when she responded and says she's already taken steps to help with the condition.

She offered a health update on Instagram (Instagram/zara_mcdermott)Along with a snap of her sinking a hot drink, Zara said: “I always have a skinny mocha. I used to be an almond milk gal but I recently found I have early signs of developing osteoporosis (my mum and nan both have it!) so I'm making switches to add calcium into my diet! Starting with my coffee hehe."
The NHS described the condition on its website: “Osteoporosis is a health condition that weakens bones, making them fragile and more likely to break. It develops slowly over several years and is often only diagnosed when a fall or sudden impact causes a bone to break (fracture).”

Zara opened up more about why it isn't her heading for Australia. Pete will be meeting him on the famous I'm A Celebrity bridge when he leaves camp and she says we shouldn't read anything into his pal going out and not her. She continued: “We’ve had a few laughs and jokes about this.
"But in all seriousness; Sam thought I was still going to be in Strictly (bless him, the optimism), so Pete cleared his whole diary for 2 or 3 weeks to be there. I also have had to rush back to work as soon as Strictly finished to finish two of my documentaries before Xmas which I am currently abroad filming now & we also have training for our final Strictly number.”
She added: "We also have training for our final Strictly number. So it was a bit impossible to clear everything but Sam was so excited by the idea of Pete being there anyway that he was happy for me to be waiting for him back at base. I'm obviously a bit sad to not be there though."
But she was clear to state that her support for Sam is stronger than ever as she's planning a party on the final night of the show. She told fans: " I am throwing a huge party for all our family & friends on the final night (keeping fingers crossed he's in it!!!) so I'm in charge of hosting everyone at home!"
