Chilling CCTV footage captured the final moments of a dad who went missing before being found rotting in an air vent.

The body of Jason Anthony Thompson, 36, was found in the air vents at Macomb Community College, officials confirmed. College police Chief William Leavens said there was "no reason to suspect foul play." The tragedy has left his family baffled, as Jason, who wasn't connected to the Michigan college, ended up in the ventilation system.

The dad-of-two was last seen by his family on October 25 and was reported missing by the Sterling Heights Police Department on November 1. CCTV images from his sister Shelby's house shows the last time Thompson was seen alive as he left her home at 5:41 pm on October 25.

The dad-of-two was last seen by his family on October 25 and was reported missing by the Sterling Heights Police Department on November 1.

Jason can be seen bending over to hug his niece and walking through the property dressed head to toe in black with Adidas trainers, a water bottle, and a backpack. He then leaves the house and shuts the door behind him, never to be seen again. Thompson's family reported him missing on November 1 after receiving no contact from him.

Authorities were called to investigate a "foul odour" at the college's Macomb Center for the Performing Arts building on the central campus. Students at the college remain concerned about the incident and one said that it was odd there was no foul play but a person ended up inside the ventilation system. "Macomb has yet to send out any email to the students about this," student Ruby Bell said on Facebook.

Jason Thompson, 36, was father to Killian and Kiara, and had never been out of contact for more than 24 hours, his family said

"Class is still going on today, even at my building that's connected to the building the body was found in... Not sure why Macomb hasn't reached out to us yet but this is very insensitive of them." College spokesperson Jeanne M Nicol told NBC: "The college community extends heartfelt condolences during this difficult time to Mr Thompson's family and friends."

His sister Carissa said on a GoFundMe page: "Jason was loved by many people and his family have been through a lot over the past month while he has been missing... "Jason was a father to two beautiful children, Killian and Kiara. He was a son, uncle, brother, cousin but most important he was loved by his family and friends and will be missed."
