The first photos from The Crown Season 6 Part 2 have officially dropped, treating fans of the Netflix drama to an exciting preview of what's to come in its final episodes.

After ending with scenes of Diana, Princess of Wales's funeral in Part 1, the second instalment will explore the British monarchy's transition into the 21st century as it reels from the sudden death of the iconic royal. Perhaps the most anticipated storyline of The Crown's upcoming episodes will be the Prince and Princess of Wales' fairytale romance, which dates back to their studies at St. Andrew's University in 2001.

Part 2 will see newcomers Meg Bellamy and Ed McVey play the young Princess Catherine and Prince William, respectively, as they navigate their early courtship on the remote Scottish campus. In teaser photos of the series, 'Kate' can be seen wearing the iconic sheer black and blue dress she wore for a real-life charity fashion show in March 2002. It has been reported that William, who paid £200 for his front-row ticket to the fundraiser, first expressed his interest in the art history student after noticing her rock the catwalk.

Another photo from Part Two sees Dominic West, who returns as Prince Charles after playing the future King in Part 1, standing alongside a young Harry and William on a skiing holiday. The photo appears to be a recreation of one taken of the boys with their father in Canada in March 1998, less than a year after the death of Princess Diana.

Meanwhile, Imelda Staunton is back as Queen Elizabeth II while Sir Jonathan Pryce reprises his role as the Duke of Edinburgh. The 67-year-old, who took over from Olivia Colman in Series 5, will portray Her Majesty's life as she approaches her Golden Jubilee and reflects on the future of the British monarchy.

Photos of The Crown Part 2 also give fans a sneak peek at the wedding of Charles and Camilla (Olivia Williams), which took place in 2005 at Windsor Guildhall in Berkshire. As head of the Church of England, the Queen did not attend the ceremony of her eldest son's second nuptials due to the institution's opposition to divorce. She did, however, join a blessing service for the newlyweds after they'd exchanged vows and was also present for the private reception at Windsor Castle.

In another photo, a smiling Prince Harry and Prince William are sitting next to each other on a plush golden couch. Both wearing casual attire, the regal brothers appear to be engaged in a private conversation at one of their many royal residences in the wholesome shot.

The Crown Season 6 Part 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 14 and will not be back for a seventh season, much to the devastation of its loyal fanbase.
