Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague recently shared her makeup routine to Instagram - and there's one product that I am pretty obsessed with and wear on the daily. The L'Oreal Paris True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Skin Serum has got £6 knocked off its price at Boots and costs only £8.99.

Containing 1% Hyaluronic Acid, this tinted serum combines the benefits of a skincare serum with the coverage and radiance of foundation - and it leaves your skin with a luminous finish.

Coming in nine different shades, this serum can be used under foundation or on its own and gives you light coverage. Posting on her Instagram stories, Molly-Mae said she'd made good use of the Black Friday sales - many of which are still ongoing - and told her followers: "I've been getting quite a few messages recently asking me to do a bit of an updated make up routine on here. I always do things like that on my YouTube but I never really do that stuff over here.

"Also it's good timing because I've had a huge restock of my make up bag on LOOKFANTASTIC and at the minute obviously LOOKFANTASTIC has insane Black Friday sales on and I also have a code, which will get you an extra 15% off on top. It's MOLLYMAELF.

"I restocked on so many of my favourite bits...I'm also going to try this today. I'm going to mix this in with my foundation. This is the L'Oreal True Match tinted serum, it's a bit of me."

And after trying it, it's a bit of me, too. I decided to try it some months ago after seeing it all over social media (yes, I was TikTok-influenced) as well as being recommended it by a bunch of my friends as the perfect foundation for wearing on holiday. I heard that its weightless coverage doesn't cake your face - and instead leaves your skin silky-smooth. After seeing it on Amazon for £8.99, I stuck it in my basket to put to the test. And the results were brilliant.

With a pipette applicator, it's pretty easy to put on - although avoid wearing white if there's any potential you're a bit of klutz and spillages are a common occurrence - and blends quickly into skin.

As someone who suffers with dry spots on my t-zone and cheeks, a foundation alternative that gives my skin of good glug of hydration as well as covering up redness and spots is a bit of a game changer and has helped me feel more confident when I do put a full face of make up on. It also stays put all day and, if I do put foundation over the top, I notice that I still have a smooth complexion on my problem areas.

And it's not just me and the 24-year-old influencer who thinks this serum is pretty top notch. The product has a 4.5 rating with over 400 five star reviews on Boots and over 7,000 on Amazon.

One said: "This foundation has got to be one of the best foundations I have ever purchased. I've been wearing foundation daily for the best part of 10 years and have finally found THE one."

Another added: "This serum is perfect for everday wear. It blends well and skin is left feeling soft and looking glowing and even toned. It does not feel thick on your skin like foundations. It is my go to product."

"I bought this in 2 shades, I was not expected much but I was keen to see what the hype would be like," commented another, who added: "Wow my skin was so soft, it did not feel like anything was on my face. It hydrated and my face was incredible. I also got it on the amazon deals so win win. I get the hype."

While many others 'got the hype', some shoppers claimed it was "too watery" and gave little to no coverage. "Not impressed no matter how you use it, with fingers, sponge or brush still doesn’t look like you’re wearing anything and it doesn’t matter how many times you apply it makes your face look horrible," said one.

While for someone else, it didn't meet their expectations as they said: "This didn’t meet my expectations. Showed up all my pores looked so false and ‘mask’ like. Thought it would be more smooth and lighter than foundation but is just like a watery foundation with a horrible finish!"

Now, while L'Oreal's tinted serum is one of the best out there (in my humble opinion), there are a number of other foundation serums that make-up lovers swear by.

PrettyLittleThing's serum foundation is down from £8 to £5.50 and has been likened to Nars Light Reflecting foundation. Others have loved Estée Lauder Futurist SkinTint Serum Foundation for giving a 'natural look'. The Ordinary's Serum Foundation with SPF 15 is beloved for blending "so easily" and being "creamy and hydrating". Plus "It doesn’t look cakey and it stays on my skin all day. It’s perfect for everyday makeup and you can definitely layer it if you want better coverage. I love it!"

For the L'Oreal serum, find in on Boots here or on Amazon for £8.99.
