New Look is shutting another one of its stores this weekend with the closure adding to the long list of sites closed already this year.

The high street fashion retailer will be shutting its Shirley branch in Southampton on Sunday, December 3 at 5:30pm. The closure was confirmed by New Look in a statement to the Daily Echo which said: "Our store in Shirley is closing on the 3rd of December.

"We would like to thank all of our colleagues and the local community for their support over the years. We hope customers continue to shop with us at our nearby location in Southampton, while our full product ranges can also be found at newlook.com."

Local shoppers who want to visit one of the fashion retailer's physical stores will now have to travel to the nearest branch in Westquay Shopping Centre. New Look has not confirmed the reason behind the closure of this particular branch but has told The Mirror previously that it did occasionally close stores whilst undertaking relocations and new site openings.

In total, New Look operates over 400 stores in the UK however since the start of the year shoppers have seen the fashion chain has closed a handful of its high street stores. Most recently, New Look closed its branch in the Maybird Shopping Park in Stratford-upon-Avon on October 28. The retailer closed four sites in September and another one in August.

However, New Look has reiterated that fans of the retailer should not be worried about the recent closures as it was a "normal course of business". A New Look spokesperson previously told The Mirror: "As part of the normal course of business, New Look occasionally closes stores, while also undertaking relocations and new site openings.

"While some sites have closed recently, we have opened a number of new stores this year and we remain on the lookout for appropriate new opportunities across the country.”

Most recently, the retailer opened a brand new branch in Grimsby last month and a new bigger site was opened in Fosse Park in Leicester - three months after it shut the old store.
