Liverpool currently sit third in the Premier League table following their 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp's side are now one point behind second-placed City, while just two points separate them from Arsenal who went top of the table after beating Brentford 1-0. Erling Haaland gave City the lead in the first-half, before Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a late equaliser.

Wright baffled by Man City approach

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has criticised Liverpool's performance against City, questioning their pressing approach against the reigning Premier League champions.

The Reds have become known for their high-intensity pressing under Klopp and Wright felt they were lacking against City, stating that it was "very strange how easy Liverpool made it for them". Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, Wright said: "I don't know what they were trying to do. Were they pressing or not?

"Ederson took six or seven players out with one pass. It was a problem all day for Liverpool, how easy City were able to break through their lines. It was very strange how easy Liverpool made it for them."

Alisson "bailed out" by ref

Former Premier League official Keith Hackett has claimed Alisson was "bailed out" by referee Chris Kavanagh, who disallowed a Ruben Dias goal after deciding the Liverpool goalkeeper had been fouled in the build-up.

Dias thought he had put City 2-0 up when Alisson dropped a corner and he tucked the ball home. However, there was slight contact from Manuel Akanji when Alisson dropped the ball and Kavanagh decided to award Liverpool a free-kick - a decision Hackett disagrees with.

" Manchester City have every right to feel aggrieved that a second goal for them was ruled out," he told the Telegraph. "It should have stood, plain and simple. The mistake in this situation was made by Alisson, who made a mess of collecting the ball and was bailed out by the referee Chris Kavanagh."

Trent signs new boot deal

Alexander-Arnold has signed a lucrative new long-term boot deal with Adidas, ending his six-year association with Under Armour.

The deal sees Alexander-Arnold become one of European football's top earners and he celebrated the new partnership by wearing a pair of white Adidas predators as he scored Liverpool's equaliser against City.

Announcing the deal, Alexander-Arnold posted a video on social media where he said: "Whenever I had the ball at my feet, I made sure I had those boots on. Istanbul was what really inspired me back then. That game, those players, the boots."
