'Harry should be troubled by army backlash as not only royals damaged by book'

The anger of military veterans who served alongside Prince Harry in Afghanistan opens a new front in the backlash over his sensational Spare memoirs.

The Taliban labelling him a war criminal, after revelations that he killed 25 “chess pieces”, must be tempered by the atrocities, murders and war crimes carried out by the medieval, theocratic regime.

What the prince should be troubled by is the criticism from the band of brothers he fought alongside, who feel their trust was betrayed.

British governments do not send soldiers to war zones for jollies and some people will be pleased that Harry has told the world how many people he killed.

Many others, however, fear he has made himself a target and should have stayed silent.

Either way, it’s clear that his family aren’t the only people being damaged by this book.

Sunak shame

Threats to sack nurses and other key workers after once clapping them reveals what the Tories really think about people who make this country tick.

Any plan to dismiss strikers who refuse to obey draconian and probably illegal orders to continue working would be despicable.

Breaking strikes under “minimum service” rules actually threatens to prolong disputes and is fundamentally wrong because it fails to address the causes of walkouts.

Some kind of minimum service from the Tories, who appear incapable of running a bath, would be appreciated.

If they really do intend to sack nurses, ambulance crews, doctors, rail workers, teachers, firefighters and everybody else, then there will be no services.

Lucky break

We hope you grab a great deal if booking a summer holiday today on Sunshine Saturday, the most popular day to nail down this year’s big break.

The thought of a getaway will help get us through the winter and this Tory nightmare.
