Christmas is the perfect time to catch up with old friends, so the BBC is serving up another helping of Toy Story after our dinners.

Woody, Buzz and co have been the Beeb’s big festive film three times already, and the fourth chapter in the Disney-Pixar series – featuring new pal Forky – will be on BBC1 after the King’s Speech.

An insider said: “Toy Story has always been a firm favourite as a Christmas premiere to it makes perfect sense to show the fourth one in 2023. It’s a tried and tested formula to bring family happiness as everyone settles on the sofa after Christmas dinner.”

Other BBC1 movies getting their first show on TV this Christmas include The Witches, Marry Me, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway and The Addams Family 2.

BBC2 will show the premiere of Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, starring Jamie Dornan, for the first time, plus the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect and Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci.
