I'm A Celeb in chaos as another million viewers snub show after Farage boycott

During the launch of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity last week, the opening night’s ratings decreased by millions compared to the 2022 series. It was revealed that this was partly due to an audience boycott due to Nigel Farage ’s inclusion in the series.

And now, it appears that viewing figures have plummeted once again as a further 1.3 million people have turned off the series, in comparison to Monday’s episode. The show launch was already down by 2.2 million viewers compared to the previous year, while viewing figures have continued to drop this week.

This Saturday’s episode - which was aired at the later time of 9.30pm after - was viewed by 5.5 million people. On average, 4.8 million viewers tuned into the celebrity competition series, which was over 1 million less than Monday night’s score of 6.1 million.

This could be due to audience-members being out and about at the time of the new slot, being it is the run-up to Christmas. Last year, the reality TV series saw a peak audience of 7.8 million viewers watching, whilst it averaged at 7 million.

Last week saw former UKIP party leader Farage being faced with an eating trial, in which he was forced to gorge on a four-penis pizza, camel udders and a cow teat in order to win stars - which mean meals - for his campmates.

The politician has been reported to earn an unfathomable £1.5million to appear on the series, which would be the biggest celebrity payout. Despite the backlash from his appearance on the series, it has also emerged that the Brexit campaigner could be set to release a pin-up calendar.

His Jungle bathing scenes on Monday and Thursday night’s episode caught the attention of social media In response to the onslaught of social media memes, his official Instagram account - which is run by a member of his team - posted a picture in jest of the British broadcaster with his face photoshopped onto a calendar.

“A must-have this #ImACeleb”, they captioned the image. A source close to him hinted that he might look to create his own calendar next year.

“'Nigel will be surprised at the incredible reaction to it when he comes out because as always he is just being himself in the Jungle”, they told . They continued: “Who knows, maybe he could even do a calendar next year. But it’s looking like 2024 might be a very busy year for him at the moment…”
