Strictly Come Dancing stars have predicted Nigel Harman and Katya Jones won't be on the BBC series for much longer.

A day on from snaps from rehearsals showing the pair pulling off a rather steamy routine, Nigel and Katya took to the dance floor to perform a Rumba to It's All Coming Back to Me Now by Celine Dion. The electrifying performance had the judges, and viewers, impressed - but some fans were worried, and some even suggested the show wanted the pair out of the competition.

It seems they weren't alone though, as Nigel confessed he'd been told he was "doomed" all week when he learned of his routine for the week ahead. Something viewers noticed about his positioning on the show and his latest dance style left many of them concerned for Nigel, and his time on the show just weeks before the final.

Viewers claimed that Nigel was performing in "the death spot", the second to perform on the night. This seems to have a long running curse attached to it, with fans claiming those performing second often get sent packing.

Not only that, but Nigel performed a Rumba which is known for being the most difficult routine for the male celebrities to do. Nigel mentioned this, admitting to host Claudia Winkleman: "It's very difficult for the male celebrity, and pretty much you're doomed."

But Nigel's comments were echoed by several viewers, who accused the show of trying to get rid of the former EastEnders star. Taking to X, One fan posted: "They want Nigel out this week then… Rumba and the death slot," as another said: "Nigel doing rumba in the death slot."

A third fan said: "Nigel in the death slot and given the Rumba. Should be the one to go this week." A fourth viewer wrote: "Oh god the producers giving Nigel a rumba and the death slot second on, they want him gone don’t they," while a fifth added: "They are trying to kill off Nigel with a rumba!!"

It comes as the show aired its eighth elimination last Sunday amid the show's iconic Blackpool week. During the results show, Angela Rippon became the latest star to depart the show after she faced Bobby Brazier in the dreaded dance-off.

Angela, 79, and pro partner Kai Widdrington performed their American Smooth to Tea For Two by Ella Fitzgerald while Bobby, 20, and pro partner Dianne Buswell performed their Jive to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham! However, despite both couples dancing beautifully, the judges unanimously decided to save Bobby and Dianne, meaning Angela and Kai would be leaving the competition.

Speaking after her fate was decided in the competition Angela thanked pro partner Kai and defended her past experience. She said: "I have to tell you that the last nine weeks have probably been the most terrifying, the most fantastic, the most glorious, the most joyful that I have spent for a very long time in my profession.

"I have had the time of my life, people keep making reference to the fact that I presented Come Dancing, but that was forty years ago, that was a different time! He [Kai] wasn’t even born then! But actually being this side of the competition, this side of the programme has been really an eye-opener for me in so many different ways.

"Everybody talks about the team and all the pros - everyone who has danced – there is a real team spirit in this programme unlike anything I’ve come across anywhere else in any of the many programmes I’ve done. It’s absolutely fabulous. They support us, they encourage us all the time – it’s absolutely wonderful. But the person who really has to get the most credit is this gentleman here [to Kai]."
