Kerry Katona admits she 'should be dead' after needing surgery due to drug use

Kerry Katona has revealed that she would be having surgery on her nose after it began collapsing due to her past drug use and that she is 'lucky to be alive' due to it.

The 43-year-old former Atomic Kitten singer opened up to fans on an Instagram Live video on Friday, as she spoke to her 826,000 followers about her visit to Pall Mall cosmetics, where she was inquiring about having an eye lift. The reality star admitted that while she was at the appointment, the doctor asked whether she had ever had surgery to her nose.

Kerry was told that her previous drug use had caused the inside of her nose to start collapsing and she admitted that her addiction at the time had almost killed her. Speaking to her fans, Kerry said that "we all make mistakes" and then revealed the shocking news that she "shouldn't be here, I should be dead."

The former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner said that she will going under the knife in the new year with surgery planned in January, telling her followers that she no longer uses drugs anymore and that her body is best described as a "jigsaw puzzle" and that she is now "trying to put my body back together."

In the Instagram Live video, Kerry told her fans: "[The doctor] went, 'your nose is collapsing.' So I have damaged my nose from doing drugs. I was offered to get it fixed years ago, and I said no, because for me it was a reminder never to touch it [drugs] again. "So he said, 'do you want us to fix it for you?' And I started crying because it's a massive 360 of where I was to where I am now. And I think wow wow wow, Ok I'll get it fixed."

Kerry continued: "Obviously I don't do drugs anymore, I've turned my life around and I'm very proud of myself. We all make mistakes and I think this is a reward for me but I'm scared!"

The mum-of-five said that she hadn't expected to still be around as her cocaine addiction had led to two overdoses and any one of them could have ended her life. With her emotions running high, Kerry admitted she was "proud" with herself before adding: "We all make mistakes. It could have turned out bad, I overdosed twice. I'm blessed to be alive and to get this amazing second chance. I'm doing well for myself, I'm proud of myself. Because the older you get your face does change ...I shouldn’t be here, I should be dead if it wasn’t for my kids I would have been."
