Congratulations are in order! East 17’s Blair Dreelan has celebrated his engagement to his girlfriend Sophie Hind, after she shared the exciting relationship news on Instagram.

The gorgeous couple, who have been dating for over a decade, got engaged in Reykjavík, Iceland, after Blair popped the question under the northern lights. Blair and his fiancé - who is a professional dancer - were pictured posing together in front of the gorgeous natural backdrop. Managing to catch the very moment that Blair got down on one knee, Sophie held her hands up to her face in shock before saying “yes”.

The bride-to-be also showcased her show-stopping engagement ring - a delicate gold band with a single diamond - as she held the ring on her finger up to the camera for a close-up shot. Meanwhile, the happy couple captioned their post with the date they got engaged, writing: “21.11.23 a magical moment”.

Fans flocked to the comments section to wish the couple their congratulations, with one fan writing: “Congratulations beauties! Love you both and so happy for you!”, while another said: “Congratulations to you both. What a location wow”.

A third fan commented, writing: “About bloody time! Fantastic! Congrats to you both”, while another added: “Oh my gosh we was wondering how you’ve kept her this long with no ring congratulations”.

The singer was launched into the limelight after getting to the finals of The X Factor back in 2004, as a member of the boyband 4th Ba5e. He later joined the 90s boyband East 17 in April 2011, where he performed with the rest of the group on tour.

However, Blair had to leave the group as soon as September of that year, due to contractual obligations. Blair then decided to swap out his performance career for a new role in music management, launching his own company called Alpha Dog Management. He manages the likes of Union J.

Since his new career, The X Factor - which he appeared on - was sadly cancelled in 2021. The show ran for 17 years, and launched the careers of One Direction - including the solo music of Harry Styles and Zayn - Little Mix and Olly Murs.

Simon Cowell shared some insights last year into the future of the series, explaining that he would want to strip it “back to basics” in a similar format to its 2004 beginnings if it was ever to return.

"When we first started the show it was very simple with unique elements. I'd argue you can't make a better music show than that," he said. “I have an expression though – if you're going to go to a party, have an invitation. You want to feel people are excited at the thought of The X Factor returning."
