Former Wimbledon finalist David Nalbandian has been accused of secretly filming his ex-girlfriend after they split.

The Argentine, who lost at SW19 to Lleyton Hewitt in 2002, finds himself in the midst of a scandal with his former partner Araceli Torrado, 29, according to German outlet BILD. The 41-year-old was in a relationship with the model for just shy of a year with the pair dating from September 2022 to June 2023.

A report states that Nalbandian installed a camera in the apartment the couple lived in in Palermo, Italy, after they went their separate ways to continue monitor her. Torrado's brother discovered the camera when he visited the flat and reportedly noticed a glow behind an air shaft before removing the cover and finding the camera.

Torrado reportedly said: "The horror was indescribable: He not only watched me, but could also see me naked!" She immediately reported Nalbandian to the police, but a lack of evidence saw the charges dropped.

Torrado and her lawyers kept on with their case and eventually gathered audio recordings and messages which allegedly led to Nalbandian admitting to filming her. As claimed by C5N, Nalbandian has said: "What matters to me is that I’m okay with you, I want to find a way for us to get back together.

"Do you want me to be honest? Yes, it was me. I was never able to watch anything because of the internet. I can not see it. If you want to sleep with someone, you’re welcome any day, any time."

Torrado responded on social media on Wednesday, posting: "In light of the questions I receive about the events of which I was a victim and whose author was David Nalbandian, I want to inform you that I am filing a criminal case and the corresponding civil legal proceedings. thanks for the support."

Nalbandian could now face charges of stalking and sexual harassment if he is found guilty by his ex-partner, who is looking to sue him.

But he insisted to Argentine paper Clarin: "There is already a judge's ruling, look carefully before speaking". When asked about the reason why the case now came to light, he went further: "They want money and fame."

The Argentine called time on his career in 2013 having reached five Grand Slam semi-finals during his career - the last of those coming in 2006. He won 11 singles tournaments.
