It comes as millions are set to take advantage of Black Friday deals online and in stores, leaving some customers frustrated at a lack of communication from the banks. Twitter user Amanda Palumbo wrote: "@Chase is having major system issues causing cards to get declined if anyone else is having issues.

"Chase, you need to do a better job communicating when your system is down and up so I’m not sitting on hold for 15 min trying to figure out why my card keeps getting declined."

Earlier this month Chase joined banking companies Truist, Bank of America, US Bank, and Wells Fargo in experiencing delays in the posting of direct deposits. Customers reported experiencing delays in the posting of their direct debit deposits and paychecks. Wells Fargo first acknowledged the issue on social media and said they were working towards a resolution. Bank of America also acknowledged the issue in a message to customers.

A Chase spokesperson said at the time: "A system issue affected ACH debits and credits sent to us, as well as to other banks. The originators of these deposits are working to resend the payment files and we will post them as soon as we can."
