Dramatic footage shows a plane engulfed in flames after it crashed into a shopping centre.

Fire crews rushed to the scene outside Mama's Daughter's Diner in in Plano, Texas, USA. The Federal Aviation Association (FAA) confirmed the small single-engine Mooney M20 crashed half a mile from the nearby Air Park-Dallas Airport. The FAA were unable to confirm whether the plane was taking off or landing. Local authorities confirmed the pilot had died in the fireball.

Daniel Daly, public information officer Plano Fire-Rescue said: "Thankfully, the plane did not actually land on or collide with anything. We do not know where the aircraft was destined, whether they were going to this landing strip that is really close or Addison. We don't really have that information right now. Again, any flight plans or any information is going to be FAA or NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board)."

The footage is understood to have been captured on November 21.

The Mirror reported another incident yesterday when a military aircraft was seen floating in the waters of Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii, after it to make an emergency landing in the ocean.

The plane, which looked like a Boeing P-8 Poseidon, was reportedly carrying nine passengers, who all made it safely back to land, according to Hawaii News Now. No injuries were reported after the crew swam to shore.

What caused the incident remains a mystery, however. Hawaii News Now reports that it was a "runway incident" that occurred at around 2pm local time on Monday. Pictures showed the plane floating in the water, appearing intact and without damage, in what looks like a safely executed water landing.

The incident happened at Marine Corps Base Hawaii and was the result of a Navy plane overshooting the runway.

Orlando Perez,, Gunnery Sergeant, a spokesperson for MCBH, said it had been landing when it overshot the runway and landed instead in the bay. The base is approximately 10 miles (16km) from Hawaii's capital, Honolulu.
