I'm A Celebrity star Annabel Giles dies at 64 after brain tumour diagnosis

Annabel Giles has died aged 64 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in July, her children said in a statement.

They said: “It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our incredible mother, Annabel Giles, who passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at Martlets Hospice in Hove. In July, Mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma, a fast-growing and highly aggressive malignant brain tumour.

“In the four months that followed, she displayed remarkable resilience and strength, despite undergoing brain surgery and countless radiotherapies. In her final weeks, she was passionate about raising awareness for Glioblastoma, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others.

“Mum was truly one of a kind, an enigma to those privileged to share her life. True to her nature, she kept spirits high and maintained her quick wit until the very end. Her humour and laughter will leave us inspired to live life to the fullest, just as she always did.

“We thank you for your love and support and kindly request that you respect our privacy at this challenging time. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we would be grateful for donations to Martlets Hospice, whose exceptional care was a great source of comfort throughout this journey. With heartfelt thanks, Molly & Tedd x," they added.

In her final social media post, the 64-year-old TV presenter posted a message about celebrating her birthday earlier this year as she told fans she was having a "lovely day". On May 20, she wrote on Instagram: "I’m in good company!!! Having a lovely day and the sun has come out especially.”

Annabel posted a selection of famous faces celebrating their birthdays on the same day, including Cher, Greg Dyke, Chris Froome and Louis Theroux. The social media post occurred just weeks before her heartbreaking brain cancer diagnosis in July earlier this year.

Annabel, who is best known for co-presenting ITV's Posh Frocks and New Trousers also previously appeared on Have I Got News For You, Through the Keyhole, Noel's House Party and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

She was part of the 13th series of ITV's I'm A Celebrity, entering the jungle on day five and finishing the show in 12th place. In 2018, Annabel returned to TV as she took on a role in ITV show Our Shirley Valentine Summer.

The TV presenter and actress shared one daughter with her ex-husband and Ultravox lead singer Midge Ure, who she was married to between 1985 and 1989. She also had a son Ted, who was born in 1998.

Earlier this year, the mum of TV presenter admitted she had been forced to sell her house after her mortgage trebled. She took to Twitter to slam "tax-dodgers" as she revealed she had to sell up because of her "interest-only" mortgage.
