Arsenal reminded of Havertz mistake after call showed “complete lack of respect”
Kai Havertz has seen his dismal start to the season reach a new low after being told his shift at left-back for Germany last week showed "a complete lack of respect" from Julian Nagelsmann.
The 24-year-old is yet to really kickstart his Arsenal career following his £65million switch from London rivals Chelsea in the summer and with each passing week in which he doesn't contribute, the pressure from fans and pundits alike mounts. In this case, Havertz hasn't avoided the wrath of an ex-Gunner in William Gallas either.
The Frenchman has made clear he feels Arsenal were wrong to sign him, but also criticised Germany national team boss Nagelsmann for playing him at left-back against Turkey on Saturday. Havertz has just one goal for the Gunners so far this term in 12 games, bit remarkably netted a stunner while playing as part of his nation's backline at the weekend.
Regardless, Gallas has made his feelings on the 24-year-old's recent stint as a makeshift defender crystal clear while speaking to Genting Casino. "At twenty-four, Kai Havertz is playing as a left back four his country? Seriously? Something is very wrong," he claimed.
"I don’t know what to say about this. For me, to make this decision, it seems like Nagelsmann doesn’t respect Havertz as a player. Havertz has spent his entire career playing as an attacking player and then you put him in at left back? I really don’t know what to say about this decision," Gallas continued. "This is a complete lack of respect from the manager."

The ex-Gunners captain was not any less firm in his stance when it came to analysing the move to Arsenal either, insisting that Mikel Arteta's preferred style of play is seemingly too difficult for Havertz to adjust to. The evidence to suggest Gallas is correct in that assessment is piling up.

Kai Havertz was used at left-back for Germany at the weekendThe former France ace added: "I think it was always going to be difficult for Havertz to adapt to the way that Arsenal play and the way that Mikel Arteta wants to use him. I don’t think he was the type of player that Arsenal needed to sign in the summer.
"When you look at the squad, in my opinion, there were different types of players that they should have prioritised. It looks like it was a mistake to sign him."
Havertz's only strike for Arsenal so far has come from the penalty spot away at Bournemouth back in September. Arteta has made clear that the midfielder has his full backing, but patience among the Emirates faithful could start to wear thin if there's no sign of improvement soon.
