Peter Crouch has revealed the key to a happy marriage with Abbey Clancy as the husband and wife duo take the podcasting world by storm.

Speaking at the Football For Change gala over the weekend, former Liverpool FC striker Pete, 42, joked about being introduced to a new fanbase thanks to his and Abbey's Therapy Crouch podcast becoming an instant hit when it launched at the start of this year and explained how they handle mixing work and pleasure.

"It's amazing kind of how it's just grown and how many people resonate with it," Pete mused when chatting exclusively to the Mirror in Manchester on Saturday night. "I don't know... maybe there's kind of a misconception when you just see someone and then when you listen to them, you know, it's the same problems everyone else has? You know, I think people can really resonate with it, and it's gone great. And, like I say, everyone we meet seems to seems to really like it."

One of the features of The Therapy Crouch podcast sees Abbey and Pete sit down with a glass of wine once a week and air their issues and gripes with one another, resolving any issues by the end of their drink and moving on - something Pete credits with keeping their relationship so strong.

"Those 'Weekly Whines'... don't listen to any of our advice," Pete joked when chatting about the popularity of the feature. "But, you know, those are a good thing as you sit down, and you just cheers at the end and say 'right that's put to bed and we will try and be better. [It's key to a healthy relationships] as we just talk. It's great that we do the podcast because we get to sort of sit down and how often do you talk with your partner for an hour and a half on the couch? With no other distractions? Not very often."

Pete went on to admit he and Abbey were "cautious" about discussing some of the intimate details of their personal life on the podcast initially but don't hold back as "it's controlled environment and it's own thing. You know, if you if you look at the context, that a lot of stuff is said solely in jest and we're just having a laugh."

The dad-of-four was just one of the many celebrities who stepped out in style in Manchester over the weekend, as stars from the world of sport, showbiz and politics united to raise some money for a good cause at the 2023 Football For Change gala. The glitzy annual event took place at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford stadium on Saturday night, with amazing donations from the likes of David Beckham and comedian Alan Carr up for grabs in a speculator money-can't-buy auction which took place throughout the night.

Launched in 2021 by football superstars Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jamie Carragher, Conor Coady and Jude Bellingham, the Football For Change gala is now one of the most hotly anticipated celebrity events in Britain attracting some of the biggest names in sport and show business.

The charitable initiative has raised nearly £1 million since launching in 2021. Speaking ahead of Saturday's event, Sky Sports pundit Carragher said: There is an incredible line-up at this year’s Football For Change gala. Vernon Kay is returning as our host after doing a stellar job last year and we’ve got Olly Murs, Tinie Tempah and Beverely Knight all performing! We’re aiming to smash our fundraising target to help Football For Change carry on helping to build better futures for young people who need the support most.”

Explaining how Football For Change is already making a difference across the UK, co-founder and Liverpool and England international player Trent Alexander-Arnold said: "Football For Change is about helping young people onto a positive path. It is footballers and business leaders coming together with a goal to help improve the life chances and opportunities of young people from some of the most challenged neighbourhoods in the country. It is a brilliant initiative and I know growing up in Liverpool that is needed now more than ever."
