Fans fume as Joe Biden confuses Taylor for Britney and jabs at Brazil fan death
President Joe Biden made reference to Britney Spears and Beyonce at the Thanksgiving turkey pardon ceremony - only he meant to say Taylor Swift.
"This is harder than getting a ticket to the Renaissance tour, or for Britney’s tour…it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now," he sputtered in confusion, hesitating on Britney's name and trying to pinpoint the proper tour. As his comment was followed by reference to Brazil where Taylor is currently at the pop star's Eras Tour had unprecedented demand, it's likely that is who he meant to say. After all, Britney is simply not on tour at this time.

Joe Biden referenced the recent conditions in Brazil (AP)Biden's comment also made reference to the extenuating circumstances at Taylor's Rio de Janeiro show, including a horrific heat wave that caused dangerous conditions for fans at the concert. Taylor was set to play three back-to-back shows at the stadium, but after the first night safety concerns were raised.
One fan even died as a result of heat stroke at the venue, though, the official cause of death has yet to be revealed. Fans reported limited access to water, blocked ventilation, and more. Taylor chose to postpone the second night of the show which was rescheduled for today.

Biden's comments appeared to reference the terrifying circumstances that fans found themselves in. However, he came under fire by fans who were appalled by his decision to speak on the Brazil incident and irritated at his mix-up. A fan said: "Beyonce and Taylor have done more for the US economy than he has. He should be thanking them." However, some fans did defend him with one writing: "To be fair, everyone’s brain is like this the week of Thanksgiving."

He stumbled over his words in his speech (Twitter)Taylor publicly addressed the death of her fan and sent out a message: "I can't believe I'm writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this. There's very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young."
Previously, Britney has expressed support to Taylor as the two seem to be friendly. She wrote on Instagram: "We took a picture, and she then became the most iconic pop woman of our generation. Kinda cool she plays stadiums, and I prefer her videos over movies any day."
