The cost of living crisis has taken its toll on many, and for one student keeping up with finances proved increasingly difficult even with the help from her parent. Despite asking her dad to help cover the costs of certain outgoings, she took matters into her own hands and began stripping to get by - without her parents' knowing.

When the daughter’s parents eventually found out, they were horrified and asked her to quit the profession, but after she refused, the dad cut his financial support. Sharing the turn of events, the dad – who goes under the handle LivingWitHorse on Reddit – posted: “I have a 22-year-old daughter. She’s in college and lives on campus. I agreed to help her make car payments, since she was in school.

"I was recently informed by a young man I work with that my daughter strips at a club about 40 minutes away. I confronted her on this and she said she didn’t plan to do it after she graduated, and she needed some money. I told her then work at McDonalds, not use her body.

“We got into an argument, and I asked her to quit stripping and get a decent job then. She refused and said stripping was easy money, so basically I said there was no need for me to pay her car payment anymore since she is making money so easily. She got upset and said that wasn’t fair, and that she doesn’t make enough for that. I told her to figure it out.”

Though the daughter’s mother disapproved of her daughter's profession, she thinks her partner’s decision to cut any finances is “unfair”. The post concluded: “She told my wife about what happened, and my wife is upset by her job of choice but says it’s unfair for me to stop supporting her so suddenly over an argument. I think it’s perfectly fair, it’s my money and my decision when to cut it off.”

However, Reddit users have hit out at the parent for not supporting his daughter. One commented: “You're wrong by adding conditions to your agreement after the fact. You're wrong for shaming your daughter. You're wrong for not being a man of your word.” While another added: “Everyone with a job is selling their body!”

A third weighed in: “You could have avoided this if you had chosen to fully support her through college. But you left her to her own devices and she devised a decent way to make money. You have no right to judge her. You're wrong.” “The way I see it, he's basically pushed her to work more hours stripping since she has to make her car payment herself now. Way to win at parenting, daddio!” added another.
