Eurovision sar dies aged just 45 after devastating health battle
Portugal’s 1994 Eurovision representative, Sara Tavares, has died at the age of 45.
Sara famously represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 where the annual song contest was held in Dublin. The singer entered the competition with the song “Chamar a Música” - a song which ended up in 8th place.
Her Eurovision song has gone down in history in her native country, with it becoming one of the best results of Portugal ever at the contest.
During the 1994 competition, Sara also received 12 points from the Spanish jury and was awarded points by 13 of the 25 countries in the contest.
Sara's sad death was announced by her devastated family. The singer passed away after a brain tumour battle which lasted over a decade. Sara was forced to pause her music career between 2009 and 2018 due to her cancer battle.

"Sara Tavares rest in peace," another echoed. "Cannot believe the news about Sara Tavares. She put up such an amazing battle."
Sara's career flourished back in 1993 when she participated in Chuva de Estrelas, where she went on to win the first series. She then went on to win Festival RTP da Canção 1994 - securing the right to represent Portugal at Eurovision. Throughout her stellar music career, Sara released six studio albums.
The singer was also known for singing the European-Portuguese version of 'God Help the Outcasts' for the Disney movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which won a Disney award for the best version of the original song. She also won a Portuguese Golden Globe for Best Portuguese Singer in 2000.
