Warning for all UK Samsung Galaxy users - ignoring urgent advice could be costly
Samsung customers have been targeted by a massive data breach which could have exposed their private information to cybercriminals. The Korean tech giant says it uncovered a data breach on November 13 in which a hacker exploited an application used by the company.
It's now warning anyone who bought something from Samsung's UK web store between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020 that their personal data including their name, address, phone number and email may have been leaked.

Fortunately, Samsung says that payment details or other financial information remain unaffected.
Certain Samsung users are being sent this warning notification (Michael Valentine / Samsung / Twitter)A warning note to affected users tells them: "Based on our investigation, we have identified that the affected data may have included your name, phone number, address and email address.

"We want to assure you that the issue did not impact your password or financial information."
Samsung added in a statement to BleepingComputer: "We were recently alerted to a cybersecurity incident, which resulted in certain contact information of some Samsung UK e-store customers being unlawfully obtained.
"No financial data, such as bank or credit card details, or customer passwords, were impacted. The incident is limited to the UK and does not affect US customers, employees or retailer data."
If you're one of the people who receives the warning message, it's probably a good idea to update your login details, especially your passwords.
Even though Samsung claims that no passwords were leaked, personal information such as your name and email can tip off cybercriminals about your login details, so it's worth taking every precaution that you can.
