It's one of the hottest festivals of the season and next year's Reading and Leeds is looking to be a belter with a rumoured headline slot for a major US band.

With a reported £1 million contract on the table, it's thought All The Small Things rockers Blink-182 are heading for England ahead of their world tour commitments in Belfast. The gap in their schedule strongly suggests the rumours are true in what insiders are calling a "huge" signing for organisers ahead of the August Bank Holiday.

"Blink-182 is a huge get for Reading and Leeds, given the band’s recent surge in popularity," a source explained. "They are planning to do a two-hour set and it will really put the festival on the map, with fans set to travel from all over the globe."

The insider tells The Sun that festival bosses are "on the verge" of signing with the band, made up of bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus, guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, and drummer Travis Barker. It'll be part of Travis' return after welcoming his child with Kourtney Kardashian.

This year's Reading and Leeds saw the likes of Sam Fender, The Killers, The 1975, Billie Eilish and Foals take to the stage to perform alongside acts including Only The Poets and You Me At Six. No year is the same at Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds.

It was this year that a major artist pulled out of Reading and Leeds Festivals just hours before his performance. Rapper Trippie Redd was due to perform at both concerts over the weekend but made a last-minute cancellation.

Organisers scrambled to social media to inform devastated gig-goers, telling fans the 'unfortunate' news before wishing the artist a 'speedy recovery'. Some music lovers even admitted that they wouldn't be coming as a result of the cancellation. Posting on X, formally known as Twitter, they wrote: "Unfortunately we have to announce that Trippie Redd is having to cancel his performances at both Reading and Leeds due to illness."

In a statement, Trippie, born Michael Lamar White IV, explained: "I’m so sorry to announce that I can’t perform this weekend. I was really looking forward to coming to Reading & Leeds Festivals but due to illness I have to cancel my visit to the UK. I hope to see you soon!" Fuming fans responded to the cancellation earlier this morning, calling for a star-studded replacement. One replied: "The actual only reason I was slightly tempted. So so happy I’ve not went now." While another said: "Announce Travis Scott." It's not yet known exactly what has happened to Trippie or if he'll reschedule his performance next year.
