A six-year-old boy gave his grandma the fright of her life as he walked into the house dragging along a six-foot snake to prank her.

The boy's father, surnamed Bai, said the family lives in a mountainous village near the city of Mengzi, in China's south-western Yunnan Province, where snakes are not uncommon. Because they encounter them fairly regularly, his young son has learned not to fear them and apparently decided to use one six-foot-long serpent to scare the adults on the morning of November 8.

CCTV footage shows him dragging the long snake to the entrance of his house, while his three friends watched from the door. The boy then hauled the snake, which appeared to be dead, into the house, startling his grandmother who was resting. His father said the boy had initially wanted to scare his mum but she was not home at the time.

Instead, he ran into the old woman, who got up and chased the naughty joker and punished him. Bai said: "He dragged the snake away, and grandma chased him and beat him." The father added that although he knew the boy was not afraid of reptiles, he was stunned to see him casually holding a snake that large. Bai said: "Usually, he goes to the wall to catch small lizards and puts them in his bag. That snake was very big, even bigger than him."

And he's not the only fearless child who enjoys playing with snakes, as in a previous story we featured a young boy from Australia, Jensen Harrison, aged just two, who had begun to forge a career as a pro snake-catcher after grabbing a small keelback. He caught the non-venomous snake in Queensland, where his mum and dad – who happen to be snake-catchers themselves – live.

The tot's dad was watching carefully as his son grabbed the snake – a moment which was captured on camera. And speaking to Seven News Brisbane, the father said: “Knowing that it would be a very small and very harmless snake, I knew that he would be keen to do it so I just stood aside and let him take over.”

The young boy’s parents Tony and Brooke, say their youngster has been growing up with all sorts of reptiles, both large and small, since birth. Gold Coast snake-catcher Tony said: “Within 24 hours of being born he was under Brooke’s arm, catching snakes. Every single day since then he’s been surrounded by snakes one way or another.”

And in another story we recounted how a brave toddler caught huge snakes despite the fact he couldn't at the time talk and could barely walk. A video of the adorable tot is believed to have been filmed by his father in China, where his family appears to be running a snake-breeding farm.

The video shows the boy entering a room where the snakes are kept and looking for the serpents, which appear to be his favourite play thing. As his dad films, the boy lifts up wooden boards on the floor and a carpet and reveals a massive pile of snakes curled up together.

The tot then grabs a snake, picking it up and showing his parents while repeatedly speaking baby words. He then picks up more snakes and hands them to his father who places them in a bag. It is unclear what species of snakes the boy is playing with, but his parents, who along with the tot were not named in reports, do not appear worried about the boy being bitten.
