A station that featured in one of the most successful Hollywood film franchises ever has now gone on sale for a really magical price of just £235,000.

The station, which features a two-bedroom cottage, is on the single-track line from Glasgow to Mallaig, which was used in the Harry Potter films. The station is still active, but the cottage offers cosy nostalgia as well as 569 square-feet of living space. Originally built in 1901, Beasdale Station was a private station for the nearby Arisaig House, and is in an idyllic spot to escape to and for taking in the beautiful scenery of the West Coast of Scotland.

While the location is particularly secluded, owners would still have to accept that four times a day during the summer months and maybe once a day during the autumn until they close for the winter months, a steam train, known officially as The Jacobite Express but usually called The Harry Potter Train, travels right past their windows.

‌However, should you actually travel anywhere on the line, you can also ask the train driver to stop at the station on the way back to Fort William, by taking out a handkerchief and waving to get the train to stop.

‌As well as the amazing location and train taxi service, the property has some great features, such as a 330sqft reception room with a brick open fireplace, as well as a kitchen decorated in the distinctive colours of the original West Highland Line livery, and a separate utility area, a good spot to pile the wellies in. There is also two cosy double bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside a small railway sleeper bridge crosses onto a garden area and there’s plenty of parking in the station car park.

Simon Stone, owner of Unique Property Company said: “We’ve had more expensive properties to sell, we’ve had much larger properties to sell, but I can’t recall having a property with more romance and such a big story behind it as Beasdale Station.

‌“There’s such a thrill in crossing the remarkable and world-famous Glenfinnan Viaduct and taking the very same route that Harry, Hermione and Ron took on their way to Hogwarts. ‌The train also passes the dramatic and glorious scenery of the area known as Dumbledore's Grave."

The property is listed on numerous sites and on the Unique Property Company listing, it states: "Own a slice of working railway history with this two-bedroom house in the Scottish Highlands converted from the Victorian station building on The Jacobite heritage line featured in the Harry Potter films.

"There’s hardly a muggle alive who can say the Hogwarts Express passes by their home, and the captivating scene of the steam engine pulling its crimson carriages never loses its thrill.

“So what about public transport? Well, close the front door behind you then wave your hand for the train! Yes, the station is a request stop on the Glasgow to Mallaig line, crossing the magnificent Glenfinnan Viaduct en route and calling at Fort William about an hour from the house – perfect for connecting to the wonderful Caledonian Sleeper.

"Fort William is also the perfect place to pick up supplies. The town has a busy high street, multiple supermarkets and plenty of places to eat and drink from breakfast till bedtime, not to mention a glorious 7 -mile ferry ride down Loch Eil to Inchree."

Beasdale was one of six railway stations in Britain that had no passengers in the 2020/21 period and remains Britain’s joint least-used station. The connection to nature offered by the property is unparalleled.

‌The listing continued: "Within a 20-minute walk is the glorious Highland coastline with some breathtakingly beautiful white sandy beaches. And of course, the walking in these parts is the stuff of legends, drawing hikers from all over the world."
