Karren Brady insists her daughter's baby won't call her 'grandma'

Karren Brady has explained why she won't let her daughter's baby call her "grandma".

The Apprentice star, 54, shared her amazement that her "baby is having a baby" after her daughter Sophia Peschisolido announced her pregnancy. Sophie, 25, recently revealed she is five months pregnant with her first child with fiancé Frankie Makin.

And Karren gushed about her expanding family as she appeared on Loose Women, telling the ITV show panelists: "I'll tell you what's incredible: when your baby is having a baby. It's just an incredible feeling. Sophia is so kind spirited she'll be a wonderful mother she's so happy and so excited."

She added: "There's going to be a big fight over who can babysit! She's got a really great support network. Grandmas should be and can be a very important influence as they've done everything in their life and they can give best advice."

However, Karren has said she will not be called "grandma" anytime soon. The panellists asked if she would prefer to be called "nan" or "grandma" by her grandchild, she replied: "I don't know, I don't care. I don't think I'm not really fussed. My mum is Nanny so I don't think I'll be Nanny and Grandma seems a bit formal, doesn't it? So I don't know we'll have to have a think."

Sophia announced her pregnancy in November with a sweet video posted to her Instagram page. Just a few days after she told her followers she was five months along. The 25-year-old took to social media to share the exciting news with her followers and captioned her post: "Our greatest blessing due 2024." In the video, Sophia and her fiancé Frankie hugged each other as he held her growing baby bump.

She looked as stunning as ever as she wore a green bikini top and white trousers as they strolled down the beach. Sophia also posted a short clip of the ultrasound. Last year, Sophia and Frankie got engaged while they were on holiday together in Greece. She posted to social media at the time to share the happy news. "I can’t wait to be with you forever and ever, you’re stuck with me now," she wrote. "I’m so lucky to have you, my soul mate @frankiemakin I love you so much, I can’t believe I woke up a fiancée I’m still in shock!!"

Bosting more than 350,000 followers on Instagram, it is no surprise that social media is Sophia's day job. She tends to keep her fans updated with what she's been up to and where she's been jetting off. Karren previously spoke about her daughter being asked to go on Love Island "many times" but she turned down the offer every time.

Talking to Closer Magazine, Karren said: "I'm very proud of her, she's a very kind, lovely girl. I did take a few photos of her [for social media] in lockdown. We all had a little go at some point when she couldn't do it herself. She's been asked to go on Love Island a few times but she wouldn't do it." Karren shares daughter Sophia with husband Paul Peschisolido, and they also have a younger son named Paolo.
