A new cat camera that allows you to talk to your pet or even play with them and give them snacks while out of the house via an app has been unveiled by tech firm Furbo and shoppers can currently get it for £62 off using a special Black Friday discount code.

Furbo has already built a reputation for high-spec dog cameras and recently launched its first ever Cat Camera, which has all the bells and whistles of its canine counterpart but a host of other more feline-friendly features. Now shoppers can pick up the gadget with 30% off by using the code BF2023 at checkout.

The Furbo 360 Cat Camera includes a camera which, as the name suggests, rotates 360 degrees and can track cats as they go around the room - perfect if your pet likes to wedge themselves in an awkward nook or cranny that might not immediately be in view. If they do end up somewhere awkward, you can try coaxing them using a handy two-way audio feature that allows you to speak to your beloved cat through the cam's microphone when you're not there.

Meanwhile, if they're crying, ill or causing mischief you can even set up alerts to notify you via an app on your phone using Furbo Cat Nanny, which is available as an additional subscription after an initial 30-day free trial and is also part of the Black Friday deals.

The main difference between Furbo's cat cam and the canine alternative is that feline friends get a special feather wand toy attached to the top of the camera to keep kitties entertained throughout the day. What's more, once you've checked in to see they're having fun and not causing mischief, you can even toss them a treat using the app to reward them.

Furbo launched the new camera, which also has a night-vision mode, after the brand discovered cat owners were using their dog camera to keep an eye on their cats. The new camera has proved a hit with Amazon shoppers, with an average rating of 4.9 stars out of 5 from 65 reviewers.

One described it as 'perfect for cat owners with long office hours,' adding: "I work long hours at a clinic, and I have five cats at home. Although my family helps taking care of them, I always wonder what they do while I'm away and make sure they behave. That's how I started searching for a decent cat camera and Furbo came to my sight.

"It has really become a crucial part of my life since then. With Furbo, I can check on my cats from the clinic using the high-quality camera. I can even talk to them to make sure they're okay. It's like being with them, even when I'm not there.

"What I love the most is the custom meowing alert feature. Furbo sends me messages when my cats' meow suddenly sounds different. It helps me to keep a close eye on my cats and lifts my anxiety. Furbo gives me peace of mind and helps me connect with my cats. If you're a busy cat owner like me, I highly recommend it."

Another said: "I love it! Cats love it! Had the dog one before but cat one is much better as it’s motion activated. It's a pricey monthly subscription but you don’t really need it other that to record."

A third said: "At regular price, the Furbo Cat is on par with the other cameras I tested price wise. I purchased it on sale which made it a no-brainer for me."

Buying the camera as a standalone unit usually costs £209 including a 30-day free trial of Furbo Cat Nanny, free shipping, a two year warranty and a 30-day free returns window. Using the Black Friday discount code gets this reduced to £146.30. If you sign up for Furbo Cat Nanny when you buy the camera, you can get an additional discount on the camera which means with a year's subscription to the premium service the total comes to £152.30, meaning you can get a year of piece of mind for £5.70.

If, even with the Black Friday discount, Furbo is slightly out of budget, Amazon has a number of alternatives available such as the Blink Mini which is £29.99, GALAYOU's 2K WiFi Pet Camera, which is even cheaper at £26.99 and Petcube cam which comes in at £49.95.
