A mum's incredible gesture saw her posting a message from 'beyond the grave' after her death from ovarian cancer.

Casey McIntyre, 38, passed away from stage four ovarian cancer on November 12, with her loved ones paying tribute to the "beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter and niece". Following her tragic death, the mother-of-one, sent a message to her followers on social media, writing: "A note to my friends: if you’re reading this I have passed away. I’m so sorry, it’s horses**t and we both know it.

"The cause was stage four ovarian cancer. I loved each and every one of you with my whole heart and I promise you, I knew how deeply I was loved." In another post, New Yorker Casey explained how she wanted to celebrate her life by raising money to help others with their own medical debt.

In another message, she wrote: "To celebrate my life, I've arranged to buy up others' medical debt and then destroy the debt. I am so lucky to have had access to the best medical care at @MSKCancerCenter and am keenly aware that so many in our country don't have access to good care."

Casey's fundraising page is hoping to raise $20,000 to help with medical debt of others via RIP Medical Debt charity. Her family left a heartbreaking tribute to her on the page, writing: "Casey Ryan McIntyre, 38, beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter, niece, and aunt died on November 12th, 2023. As Publisher at Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin Random House, she derived great joy from publishing books for a new generation of readers, and saw herself in every child sprawled out on a couch, rug, or bunk bed engrossed in their latest book obsession.

"Her greatest gifts and joys were her ready and generous wit, her easy laugh, her devotion to her family and friends, and her astonishing determination and grit. She knew the lyrics to every song, recognized every face, and generally started every karaoke session with Bonnie Raitt’s ‘Something to Talk About."

Casey announced her diagnosis in 2019, writing on Instagram: "Some of you already know this, but about two months ago I received some shocking and terrible news. I have stage 3c ovarian cancer. Before we go further: the diagnosis is terrifying, but my overall prognosis is good. I am very lucky. There is a very high remission rate. I am extremely grateful to have excellent healthcare through my work.

I know what you’re probably thinking, “Casey, I follow you for the ice cream reviews. This bad news is very off brand.” And I’ve got to say I agree with you! Cancer is very much not my brand! I am also here for ice cream and lols, and not so much for chemo and wigs and scars and tears. But we don’t get to choose our fate."
