Former president Donald Trump's sister, Maryanne Trump Berry was found dead in her home today at age 86. Maryanne always supported Trump's business ventures to his face but told a different story behind closed doors.

Maryanne Trump was among a finite group of women the former president spoke fondly of. On one occasion in 2015, Trump said Mary, who was a former federal judge and prosecutor, would be perfect for the Supreme Court, saying she'd be "phenomenal" and "one of the best." The Republican front-runner added she was "very smart and a very good person."

Trump's beloved older sister was one of the few people he could truly confide in, until about the last year of his presidency. The former president entrusted Maryanne throughout his life, so the audio recordings released by the Washington Post in 2020, in which Mary is heard denouncing her brother, cut deep into his heart.

“Donald’s out for Donald,” Barry said to her niece, Mary L. Trump, an outspoken critic of Trump’s presidency and the author of a bombshell book about him: “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created The World’s Most Dangerous Man.”

“His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God,” Mary said on the recording. “I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying," according to CNN.

His sister would go on to say the former president was a "cruel" man with no principles. In a moment of seemingly pent-up aggression, she noted how Trump tried to take credit for her legal career. "I have never asked him for a favor since 1981," she said

The Trump family member was selected by President Ronald Raegan to serve on the Federal District Court in 1983 and subsequently nominated by President Bill Clinton to the 3rd Court of Appeals from in 1999, she retired in 2019.

The former judge also supplied her niece with scathing revelations about Trump. Most notably, he enlisted someone else to take his SAT exam for him, which is an allegation discussed in Mary L. Trump's book.

Despite Mary's ruthless denouncement of her brother, she too had skeletons in the closet. Her retirement from the appeals court was amid an investigation into whether she violated judicial conduct rules by partaking in tax fraud. The allegation stemmed from a New York Times investigation alleging the former president and his siblings used tax schemes to maximize their inheritances.

The Trump sibling was able to avoid the investigation by retiring from the bench. This reportedly left her a guaranteed annual retirement salary and just out of arm's reach of the law. Her attorney dutifully denied the allegations.
