'Boyfriend wants to dump me now I'm pregnant - a baby is inconvenient for him'
An 18-year-old is seeking support after an unplanned pregnancy has left her relationship with the baby’s father in tatters. The woman, who admitted that finding out she was pregnant had left her terrified, told Reddit users how her boyfriend had reacted upon hearing the news.
She said: "I’m not ready to be a mum, I really would love to be in the future but not now. I told my boyfriend and he was in favour of getting an abortion.” After trying to discuss the options with her boyfriend, the girl, who goes by the name of ThrowRAimnotsuree online, admitted he had said: “If I kept it, he would try to be in the child’s life but he could not be with me because he would never look at me the same if I decided to inconvenience him by keeping it.”
The girl continued by saying it had been the most traumatic experience of her life, and after visiting the doctors, found out there was a high chance she might miscarry the baby. After crying to her boyfriend (and receiving little comfort) she told readers how he called her the next day asking for a paternity test.

“He told me that the baby wasn’t the mistake, that I was,” she said. “He told me I’m a horrible person and that he doesn’t want to be with me. He said that he would never want me to be the mother of his child. He said he didn’t care cuz the baby is gonna die anyway so f*** it. It was horrible.”

The girl also described how he called later to say sorry, before demanding to know when she was going to abort the baby, even though he knew her chances of miscarrying were high. “Today I got my HGC levels back again and they went down. It looks like my baby is going to die soon,” she said.
She then recounted how he told her he didn’t want to be with her because she wasn’t happy enough about the baby. “Other girls would be grateful to have his baby,” he said. “I said how can I be happy when I will have to get an abortion? He said I could still be happy it’s his baby. He said I did nothing to comfort him and he feels alone with me. He doesn’t want to be with me. I’m so traumatised after this whole situation. How do I handle this?”
The post, which received 1.2k comments caused many readers to be angry on the girl’s behalf. One said: “It’s not like you got pregnant all by yourself. Your boyfriend is an idiot. First, he doesn't want the baby and then he's mad because you're not excited to have his baby, as if his DNA is God's gift to mankind.”
Another commented: “He’s an abusive a**hole. Your body is going through a lot right now. You need to take care of yourself. How people react in hard situations says a lot about a person's character. This is not a person you should be in a long-term relationship with and certainly not someone you should be parenting with.
Many responded with heartfelt words about her situation: “I’m so sorry,” said one reader. “To decide to abort is traumatic. To miscarry is traumatic. To not be able to lean on the people you care about is traumatic….I don’t have to tell you that your boyfriend is incredibly immature and selfish.” Another said: “This is one of the most despicable things I’ve ever read. His behaviour is evil.”
