Emmerdale star, Danny Miller, has revealed a surprising new venture and addressed soap fans calling his character Aaron Dingle "grumpy" amid his village return.

The actor, 32, appeared on Monday's Good Morning Britain to talk about the new series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! after he won the 2021 series, where chat soon got onto Emmerdale. Viewers will recall that Aaron made an explosive and "dark" return to the village last month with the angry character lashing out at friends, family and villagers.

In upcoming scenes, Aaron finds himself in a feud with Billy Fletcher, which results in an explosive fight between the two. Talking on Monday's GMB, host Susanna Reid said: "Your fans have noticed, you've [your character, Aaron] gone a bit grumpy to put it mildly so what's that about?"

To which Danny said: "Someone Tweeted me the other day and said it's no wonder, he's [Aaron] got two dead boyfriends, dead sister, dead gran, he's been to prison, his husband's in prison, so there's no wonder he's a little bit angry, which is kind of nice for me to play."

Elsewhere, away from the ITV soap, Danny spoke about his new venture as he is releasing a new children's book for Christmas, Jim The Dog and Santa Claus, with Nige Clucas. It will be a hero dog series taking inspiration from Lassie following the success of Danny's Albert's Bookshelf enterprise, which is audiobooks of his son Albert's favourite books read by his dad.

It comes after Danny teased Aaron's dark return last month, saying: "He has lost the plot entirely. He's very selfish, angry, maybe slightly depressed in a way I guess from everything that's happened. And he's not dealt with the grief very well. So the state of mind is that he's just angry at everybody, and just constantly wanting a fight."

Danny confessed at the time his worry that the audience will hate Aaron and what he's become, but he hopes the "interesting" character change will be understood given what has happened. He said: "Hopefully the audience, as amazing as they've always been with with Aaron, will see the self-destruct and self loathing part of it as opposed to him just doing it for no reason. He is very, very nasty to a lot of characters and says stuff that looks almost like he's thought about it.

"There's no remorse which kind of adds to that sort of darker side to him. He's got so much hatred for so many people. He didn't have that chance to grieve with everybody, he was almost hauled off by Chas and told to go in the nicest way possible so that she could keep her secret."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursday nights. *Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , and .
