Shirley Ballas’ life story is set to be dramatised in a TV series – and she wants Angelina Jolie to play her. The Strictly star confirms she has had offers to adapt her 2020 memoir, Behind the Sequins, for the screen.

“We have got interest for a six-part series,” she teases. “I am not sure who would play me. Angelina Jolie would be good.”

She also wants to get fellow Strictly judge Anton Du Beke into the show, adding “I would love Anton to be a part of it... I am always open to offers.”

Shirley opted to follow up her memoir with a novel, allowing her to include her most scandalous anecdotes in Murder on the Dancefloor, where main character, Lily Richmond, is based on her.

“There were many stories in the autobiography that I could not write, or they did not want me to include, or did not want me to write,” she said at Good Housekeeping Live.

Lily Allen ’s husband David Harbour has dismissed rumours of a love rift sparked by them unfollowing each other on social media.

He says their marriage is “so great” after reports they were living separate lives. The end of the actors’ strike may have helped their bond.

The pop star’s husband, about to start filming another series of Stranger Things, admitted he spent the strike “sitting on the couch depressed as hell” with nothing to do.

He added: “My wife likes when I go to work because it’s nice for her to have her life and me to have my life and for us not to just annoy each other by being around all the time.”
