Strictly star Karen Hauer’s estranged husband claims show ‘wrecked relationship’
Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer’s estranged husband has claimed the BBC show “wrecked” their relationship.
Karen, 39, began dating Jordan Wyn-Jones, 34, in 2021, and just a few months into their romance, he popped the question. They tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in June last year, with fellow Strictly pro Luba Mushtuk serving as bridesmaid. But their relationship was under pressure due to their differing views on starting a family, and while Karen hasn’t spoken about her marriage breakdown, Jordan has finally broken his silence on their shock split.
The personal trainer told the Daily Mail he was “incredibly sad not to be in Karen’s life”, but admitted they “were not right for each other in terms of her career”, as he revealed the Strictly pro, the longest serving dancer on the BBC series, was too busy focusing on her career to start a family with him. While he said would always “admire her for her career”, he complained it “took her away from me a lot”.

“She’d be away and I’d be at home on my own,” Jordan moaned. The couple even relocated to the countryside from Wimbledon after getting married, but their marriage was only kept alive through FaceTime calls and messages while Karen was on the road. But it was an interview in which she confessed she was unsure if she wanted children that made Jordan realise that their marriage was over.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tour“She's amazing and I admire her for it. That's one of the reasons I wanted to marry her – because of how powerful she is,” he explained. “But we wanted different things. There was a plan about having children but then there wasn't a plan.” Jordan revealed they had spoken about having kids, and insisted that Karen had said she wanted to have children with him, but their plans to have their own family never came to fruition.
“I've always wanted to be a father,” he sadly added, as he confessed he would have ended up “resenting” Karen had they started together and not had children. Back in August, Karen said in an interview with Hello! that she was happy with her “dogs and my husband”, and was in no rush to have babies. “There's always the possibility but right now I'm really happy living in the moment with my husband and with the dogs,” she stated.
The Venezuelan-born dancer was first married to dancer Matthew Hauer, who she competed with on the US talent show So You Think You Can Dance. They later split, and Karen went on to meet and marry another dancer in 2015 - Kevin Clifton. Just three years after they tied the knot, the couple parted ways, and Kevin found love again with Stacey Dooley, with the duo welcoming daughter Minnie earlier this year.
The Mirror has reached out to Karen's representatives for comment on this story.
