A firm that manufactures some of the most-loved sweets in the UK has left chocolate lovers threatening to "riot" after they withdrew an iconic brand.

The move to take away Milkyway Crispy Rolls has been met with fury by shoppers who love the crunchy treat. And it could be gone from shop shelves forever as the company announces it has halted production of the beloved snack.

But Mars Wrigley UK were unlikely to have expected the reaction of devastated chocolate lovers – with many shoppers said they'd "riot" to force the firm to bring it back. Fans of the treat noticed that shop had stopped stocking the sweet – which comprises of wafer biscuits with a light whipped filling dunked in rich milk chocolate.

One angry fan said: "Milkyway crispy rolls discontinued? How much more can we take before we riot?" while another said: "I am craving Milky Way Crispy Rolls it’s actually a joke, why did they get discontinued." And another said: "Milky Way Crispy Rolls have been discontinued in the UK. The end of an era," with one raging fan even claiming the popular manufacturer had a "war on their hands". Yet another said: "Good morning to everyone except the person responsible for discontinuing Milky Way Crispy Rolls."

However, despite the angry reaction to the move, a spokesperson for Mars Wrigley UK confirmed the news and told The Sun: "While Milky Way Crispy Rolls are currently in a galaxy far, far away we’re pleased to offer many delicious alternatives such as Milky Way Magic Stars, Maltesers, Mars and of course, the traditional Milky Way.

There is a little hope left, but shoppers will have to be quick to grab their fix, with a few stores still selling the delicious treat, although expect to pay through the nose for them. Sweettreatsandpartyfavours.co.uk, Belito.co.uk and sosweetshop.co.uk all stock the MilkyWay favourite. Sosweetshop.co.uk is selling a single choc bar for £1.49 per 25g bar but delivery will cost you £3.55 – or you can get a box of 24 for £30.

And Belito has them for £10.70 a box of 24, working out at 44p per chocolate – but shopping costs £6.75 making a total to £17.45, while some switched-on Scottish fans spotted them in a Premier convenience store in Glasgow called the Racetrack Pitstop.

They can also be found on TikTok and one fan said: "Box of 23 on Tik Tok shop £19, £15 sometimes if you have a voucher (add it to yer basket then don’t buy it and you’ll get one)".And global shopping site eBay has packs of 24 for £17 but there are some sellers offering them at varying prices.

It isn't the first time manufacturers have shocked shoppers by removing much-loved products either, with Cadbury taking away popular Christmas treat Snaps, with the firm also saying that Dairy Milk 30% Less Sugar disappearing. And Nestle have said that they will discontinue the decades-old favourite Caramac.
