Aaron Ramsdale announces birth of baby son with wife on eve of Arsenal clash

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has announced on social media that he and his wife have become the proud parents to their newborn baby son.

The England star, 25, revealed earlier this year that he and his spouse, Georgina May, were expecting. And on the eve of the Gunners' match against Burnley, Ramsdale took to Instagram to confirm the arrival of his son: Ronnie Ramsdale.

In a post shared late on Friday evening, the shot-stopper wrote: "So about the last few weeks! My beautiful baby boy was born. Ronnie Ramsdale. So grateful for my wife @georginamay_. We love you so much."

While it remains to be seen whether or not Ramsdale will feature against the Clarets on Saturday, there have been calls for Mikel Arteta to reinstate his former No.1 in the wake of some shaky performances from summer signing David Raya.

The on-loan Brentford goalkeeper usurped Ramsdale earlier in the campaign but has made errors in recent games. There has also been background noise about Ramsdale's own future amid reported interest from rival Premier League clubs.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, though, Arteta urged Ramsdale not to make any rash decisions over his future and insisted that plenty come change between now and March.

The Spaniard said: "We just want the best for our players and we try to do that, and we know the influence that we can have - sometimes positively, sometimes not so positively, towards them.

"This is a team sport that needs 24 players that have to fulfil a role. And the role that you have in August, it might be very different to the one you have in March.

"So making early decisions, in my experience, is not something good at all and as well because the team has certain needs that has to be accomplished. You need everyone and Aaron has a really important role in the team."
