Two women were attacked by a menacing crocodile while riding a motorbike at night.

Alma Ramirez and another member of her family were rendered terrified when they spotted a pair of wild crocodiles hot on their heels in Guerrero, Mexico. The two dangerous beasts had made their way from the water to the road and stared at their potential prey with a glare that left Alma sure that she had to get herself and her loved one out of the situation as soon as possible.

But before she could do so, one of the fearsome reptiles jumped towards them, grabbing hold of the passenger's foot, in circumstances that could have been fatal.

As per National Geographic, crocodiles have the most powerful bite on the planet. The ferocious animals can snap their jaws shut with a whopping 3,700 pounds per square inch (psi), or 16,460 newtons, of force.

To put that into context, human beings chomp into a steak with approximately 150 to 200 psi (890 newtons), while hyenas, lions, and tigers all comparatively pale in comparison, generating around 1,000 psi (4,450 newtons), which, while certainly impressive, is no match for a crocodile.

Therefore, Alma had to act extremely quickly or risk her co-rider losing her foot and possibly her life. Showcasing her incredible powers of composure, she managed to remain calm, keeping control of the motorbike and driving away from the two crocodiles.

Luckily, while she came away with superficial bitemarks and likely some sleepless nights from the whole ordeal, it appears the victim of the attack has escaped without any long-lasting injuries.

Alma warned others to look after themselves while travelling through the highway in Guerrero, Mexico, and to be on the look-out for any opportunistic crocodiles. .

She said: "To anyone walking from Hacienda de Cabañas to Llano Real, be very careful right now. There are two crocodiles that came out, and one managed to bite my companion. We were on a motorbike at the time. Be very careful because they’re going on the road.”

Since then, locals have reached out to offer their thanks for the warning and support for the horrendous situation the two women had to go through.

One said: "Take care of yourself my friend", while Zury wrote: “How scary, I hope your companion is okay.”

A third, named Leo, got in contact to make her aware that the bite of the animal can become infected. He stressed: “Be careful, the bite of those animals is dangerous. Wash the area well with oxygenated water and do not cover it.”
