Loose Women's Denise Welch has revealed that she would "never forgive" her son for missing her wedding to Lincoln Townley.

The 65-year-old made the confession during a discussion on the ITV panel show about while discussing weddings and remarriage ceremonies. Speaking about her own experience with the romantic events, Denise made the shocking revelation that her son Matty Healy, who is the lead singer of The 1975, had been unable to attend her wedding to self-taught painter.

The former Coronation Street star explained the musician had had to skip the special event because it clashed with an extremely important show. "Matty, my Matthew, he missed my wedding to Lincoln. I remember when he called me I was doing a play. And he said 'Mum what would you say if I told you I can't make your wedding?' It was 10 years ago. "And I said, 'I would never forgive you,' and he said, 'Even if I was supporting the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park?'"

Despite being hurt, Denise understood his dilemma and gave her blessing for Matthew to pursue the opportunity. "It hurt me, but I completely understood. It was a dilemma for both of us and it was hard. But I would have never of said 'You've got to,' because the band was [on the rise]," she said.

Having long moved from the disappointment, Denise says she can now laugh about the situation. "This is why it became a bit of a joke because years ago when they were just four teenagers making a lot of noise in the garage. I used to say 'Get a job! Unless you are supporting the Rolling Stones get a job'."

Lincoln had sweet words for his bride, gushing about Denise to their guests. "My most brilliant achievement was persuading Denise to marry me. I turned 40 last year and I have never met anyone like Denise, never been close to anyone like Denise, never loved anyone like I do Denise," the 50-year-old said.

The Hollyoaks star echoed these sentiments in her speech, in which she said that no one could "make me happier" than Lincoln. "This is about being together forever...this is my fairytale.

"It was like walking into one of those weddings in an American movie. Every time I've watched one of those I've thought I'd love to get married like that," she said. "I had no idea how beautiful it was going to be."

Denise was previously married to actor Tim Healy, best known for playing Les Conroy in Benidorm, from 1988 to 2012. She confirmed they'd be separated for a long time on Loose Women in 2012, and in her autobiography, she revealed that her depression had massively impacted their relationship with her ex and their two sons. Prior to that, Denise was wed to Emmerdale actor David Easter. They divorced in 1988 after five years of marriage. Denise has since claimed that she believes her first husband committed adultery, and that they fought like "cats and dogs" when they were together.
