Modern Warfare 3 officially launches this week, with Zombies and Multiplayer among the modes going live on release day. Here's when you can preload the full game ahead of launch.

Players have already been able to experience the Modern Warfare 3 campaign over the last week, with Modern Warfare campaign early access going live last Thursday. But the official wait for the next Call of Duty title will finally end on Friday, November 10 with Zombies and Multiplayer going live on launch day, with the campaign also being made available for players who didn't pre-order.

The bad news is that Modern Warfare 3 has a mammoth file size, with the PS5 campaign file size alone coming in at a massive 140GB, meaning the full install is over 200GB. But there is good news because Activision opened up a Modern Warfare 3 campaign early access preload 24 hours before launch, and it's a similar story for the full game too.

Here's when you can preload Modern Warfare 3, including multiplayer and Zombies, ahead of release.

Modern Warfare 3 preload – here's when it goes live

Activision has confirmed via a blog post that the Modern Warfare 3 preload will go live at 6pm GMT/ 1pm EST / 10am PST on Wednesday, November 8 for all platforms including PlayStation, Xbox and PC (Battle.net and Steam). The preload will be available simultaneously worldwide, no matter what platform or where in the world you reside.

If you played the Modern Warfare 3 beta a few weeks ago, you should already have the majority of the files installed at this point, including Call of Duty HQ, so the download shouldn't take too long for you. And the same applies if you jumped into campaign early access, with only multiplayer and Zombies content needing to be downloaded before launch.

If you already have Warzone downloaded, although you'll have Call of Duty HQ, you'll also need to download the Modern Warfare 3 campaign, multiplayer and Zombies before being able to play – so preloading is recommended. Activision has already revealed the new Urzikstan map, which will replace Al Mazrah as the new big map in the upcoming iteration of its battle royale mode in December, but players will be able to experience the map this Friday, as it's also the map in which the new open-world Zombies mode is set.
