Priscilla Presley explains decision never to remarry after Elvis heartbreak

Priscilla Presley has shared her reasons for never remarrying following her split from rock n roll legend Elvis.

The duo were wed for six years before going their separate ways in 1973. They had one child together, daughter Lisa Marie Presley, who died in January at the age of 54.

Now, the actress has described her life with the Suspicious Minds singer - and why she opted against tying the knot following their demise. Speaking during a Q&A session with an audience at South Point Casino in Las Vegas, she revealed she "never wanted to marry after him".

According to PEOPLE, Priscilla told the crowd: "No one could ever match him."

The confession comes after it had long been rumoured that she vowed never to make her way down the aisle with another person as long as Elvis was alive. The iconic musician died on August 16, 1977, four years after the couple's split. Despite his passing, Priscilla stayed true to her word and has remained a Presley ever since their pairing.

Priscilla, now 78, also touched on why she never went on to have more kids with Elvis. She commented: "Elvis felt he had a very busy schedule and he did have a bit of guilt that he wasn't around that much when Lisa was younger. With his scheduling and his touring, he just felt he wasn't around enough to give a lot of attention to having another child."

Priscilla also recently told how her daughter was "suicidal" in her final months. In an appearance on TalkTV with Piers Morgan earlier this month, she broke down as she opened up about the months leading up to Lisa Marie's death. The only child of Priscilla and Elvis passed due to a small bowel obstruction caused by previous weight-loss surgery, with opioids later discovered in her system at the time of her death.

Speaking to Piers, Priscilla said: "Losing Ben [Lisa Marie's son] was the hardest thing for her, he took his own life, he was the love of her life. She adored him, she would do anything for him."

In another interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the former actress further opened up about her last memory with her daughter. "We had just gotten there, you go down all these stairs," she said. "I tripped a little bit because I had these high heels on, and she started laughing so hard. I started laughing. We hadn’t even had a drink yet."

She continued: "'She goes, 'Oh my God, Mom, you can’t even have a drink.' … It was fun, a fun memory. Then we sat down and ordered drinks, and she says, 'Mom, my stomach hurts really bad.' We immediately got up and left.”
