Britney Spears fans slam Timbaland for saying she needed to be 'muzzled'
Timbaland shocked social media when he commented on Britney Spears' memoir recently and her fans are demanding an apology.
The music producer was being interviewed by 9th Wonder at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, DC on October 29 when an audience member asked about Britney's memoir, The Woman in Me, and its comments about Cry Me A River, a song produced by Timbaland for Justin Timberlake that is said to be about Justin and Britney's relationship.
He said: "Cry Me A River is making headlines again because of Britney's memoir, she's saying that..."
But the man never got to finish his question, because Timbaland jumped in and said: "She's going crazy, right? I wanted to call JT and say 'Man! You should have put a muzzle on that girl.'”

Alyssa Milano 'apologises to Britney' as she's called out for 'bullying' tweetThe crowd, Timbaland, and 9th Wonder all chuckled at the comment, but social media doesn't see what's so funny about it. "No one asked for his opinion," one person wrote on Twitter. Another added: "Timbaland hasn’t been relevant since 2008, yeah I'd be mad too."
He also reportedly said that he didn't blame the pop princess for sharing so much personal information because he believes it's what celebrities need to do to stay relevant right now.
Britney's book goes into intimate details of her relationship with the former *NSYNC member, even mentioning that Justin had gotten her pregnant and she got an abortion because he wanted her to. Justin has been thrust into the spotlight ever since the memoir's release, and not for the best reasons.
But it seems that Timbaland might be mad at Britney for another reason besides spilling the tea about his friend and collaborator. In 2007, the producer reportedly wanted to work with Britney on her next album - which would have been Blackout. Britney reportedly "shaded" him by choosing to work with Timbaland's protege, Danja, instead.
Another Twitter user reminded others on the website that this wasn't the first jaw-dropping comment that he's said about female music artists. The user wrote: "Timbaland is the one who needs a muzzle. We didn’t forget about his gross Aaliyah comments. He's still upset Britney didn’t want to work with him. A nasty man."
In a television program about the late singer Aaliyah, he admitted that he was "in love" with her when she was 16 and he was 23 years old. He also shared that he married his wife because she "resembled" the then-budding pop star.
