Francis Ngannou's trainer explains why he yelled at him during Tyson Fury fight

Francis Ngannou was yelled at by his coach Eric Nicksick after dancing over Tyson Fury whilst he was on the canvas.

Heavyweight champion Fury scraped out a controversial decision win against Ngannou in their crossover fight last month. The Brit was expected to cruise past Ngannou to set up an undisputed fight against Oleksandr Usyk, but the fight was his toughest of the last 10 years as Fury won by a single point.

Ngannou knocked Fury down in the third round with a left hook and danced over him before referee Michael Griffin ordered him into a neutral corner. Nicksick said of the knockdown on The MMA Hour: " I yelled at Francis because he was dancing over him, like, 'Get away! We've got to get the count going bro!' He was in the corner, and I looked over at him and was like, 'Hey, he's no boogeyman is he bubba?' and he was like, 'Nope, he ain't no boogeyman.'

Nicksick coached Ngannou for the fight alongside boxing legend Mike Tyson and his other MMA trainer Dewey Cooper. "I was like [to Ngannou] 'We're in this fight. Let's get after this dude and let's have some fun.' Dewey was calling Fury the snake charmer and told him the feint game was going to snake charm him, don't buy into the feints. Just throw off of them and disrupt his rhythm, I think that's what Francis did really well," Nicksick added.

Fury and Ngannou were respectful towards each other all of fight week but things changed just moments before the fight started as Ngannou was offended by the heavyweight champion vowing to take him to school. Fury was forced to eat his words just minutes later and Ngannou explained why he danced over his rival after putting him down.

"When we touched gloves, he was like, 'Let me take you to school.' I was like, 'You motherf***er, you are not taking me to school.' That's why when I knocked him down, I was dancing in front of him and saying 'You're a bad professor motherf***er', How is that school going? Who is taking who to school?'

"For me, it looks like I was the one taking him to school. That was the language that I was expressing at that time. Who is taking who to school," Ngannou said on his YouTube channel. The former UFC champion wants to rematch Fury in his next fight, but that seems unlikely as the Brit's undisputed fight with Usyk is now pencilled-in for February.
